JAKARTA, The Kabar News—Indonesian bottled-water brand Le Minerale has denied sponsoring or supporting a youth gathering at Jakarta’s Bundaran Hotel Indonesia (HI) after footage showing its logo at the venue prompted boycott calls on social media.
The controversy followed the Indonesian Students’ Youth Pledge Declaration held around Bundaran HI on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2026. Images and videos from the event showed the Le Minerale logo on a water-filled traffic barrier near the gathering.
Some social media users interpreted the branding as evidence that the company had funded or otherwise supported the event. However, no verified document or independent evidence has emerged to substantiate that allegation.
Le Minerale responded through its official social media account on Friday. The company said the barrier was part of the area’s traffic-management infrastructure and did not serve as an event sponsorship display.

“Le Minerale did not sponsor, participate in organizing, or provide any form of support for the event,” the company said in its statement.
“The Le Minerale logo seen in the video was displayed on a water barrier used for traffic management, not as a sponsorship attribute. Therefore, the presence of the logo does not indicate Le Minerale’s involvement in or support for the event.”
Photographs published after the controversy showed several Le Minerale-branded barriers near the Bundaran HI police post. Authorities reportedly installed the facilities before the Oct. 29 gathering and kept them at the location afterward, supporting the company’s explanation that no one placed them there specifically for the event.
The company said it issued the clarification to prevent further public misunderstanding. Its statement directly addressed the visible branding but did not provide details about who owned or installed the barriers.
The episode illustrates how corporate logos appearing near politically sensitive events can quickly generate unsupported conclusions online. However, a visible brand does not, by itself, establish a sponsorship relationship. This normally requires confirmation from the company, organizers or contractual records.

PT Tirta Fresindo Jaya produces Le Minerale and identifies itself as the brand’s producer on its official website. The company describes Le Minerale as bottled mountain mineral water produced domestically.
PT Mayora Indah Tbk, the consumer-goods group associated with the producer, began operating on Feb. 17, 1977. Mayora now distributes its products across five continents. However, this broader corporate history does not establish any connection between the company and the Oct. 29 gathering. Mayora’s corporate profile provides the company’s verified history.
As of Friday, there was no independently verified evidence that Le Minerale financed the declaration. The boycott campaign therefore remains a social media response to an allegation that the company has formally denied.
