JAKARTA, The Kabar News—Indonesian police have named former National Police chief Listyo Sigit Prabowo and two senior officers as suspects in an alleged illegal wiretapping operation that targeted President Prabowo Subianto and other public figures.
The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) chief, Comr. Gen. Asep Safrudin announced the suspects at National Police headquarters in Jakarta on Tuesday evening, Nov. 3. Police identified them by the initials LSP, ASN and EH.
National media subsequently identified the three as Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Insp. Gen. Ahrie Sonta Nasution and Insp. Gen. Eko Hadi Santoso. Listyo has served as presidential chief of staff (KSP) since Oct. 5 after previously leading the National Police from 2021 to 2026, according to the Presidential Staff Office.
“Based on the investigation and scientific crime investigation, investigators have named three suspects, identified by the initials LSP, ASN and EH,” Asep said.

Police allege that the suspects ordered officers to enter telephone numbers into the National Police’s Lawful Interception Management System without completing the required verification process. Investigators said the interceptions had no connection to a lawful criminal investigation.
“The suspects allegedly conducted wiretapping without proper procedures against the president of the Republic of Indonesia, state officials, political figures, media representatives, leaders of mass organizations and nongovernmental organizations,” Asep said.
The allegations remain subject to investigation and court proceedings. A suspect designation does not establish guilt under Indonesian law.
Police said the suspected activity occurred between 2025 and 2026. In October, the suspects allegedly ordered the deletion of interception files stored in the system.

“An officer who became aware of the incident subsequently filed a police report on Oct. 30, 2026,” Asep said.
Investigators have questioned 10 witnesses and three expert witnesses. They have also seized 11 mobile phones, an iPad and several flash drives containing data that may be relevant to the investigation, according to reports by CNN Indonesia.
Police are investigating suspected illegal interception, unauthorized access and deletion of electronic data. Authorities have not publicly explained each suspect’s alleged role or disclosed the complete digital-forensic findings.
Reports also said investigators were questioning former National Police information and communications technology division chief Insp. Gen. Slamet Uliandi as a witness. Police had not named him as a suspect at the time of the announcement.

The case raises questions about oversight of Indonesia’s lawful-interception infrastructure, which authorities may use only under applicable legal procedures.
Investigators must establish who submitted the targeted numbers, who authorized the interceptions and whether anyone used the collected information outside legitimate law enforcement operations.
Neither Listyo nor lawyers representing the three suspects had issued a detailed public response when police announced the case. The Presidential Staff Office had also not clarified whether Listyo would remain in office during the investigation. Further disclosure from investigators and responses from the suspects will be necessary to assess the allegations fairly.
