Political analyst Arif Susanto has called on the national police chief, attorney general, TNI commander and defense minister to resign amid controversy surrounding the Febrie Adriansyah corruption case. The demand, voiced at a Jakarta public discussion, represents the analyst’s opinion. It has not become an official government policy or law-enforcement position.
JAKARTA, Thekabarnews.com—Political analyst Arif Susanto has called on four senior Indonesian officials to resign amid public scrutiny. This follows concerns over how state institutions handled alleged corruption and money laundering cases involving former Assistant Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah.
Arif Susanto, an analyst at Exposit Strategic, made the demand during a media discussion organized by the Movement for a Just and Democratic Indonesia (GIAD). The event took place at the Formappi office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday, July 14.
Arif named National Police chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Attorney General ST Burhanuddin, Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander Gen. Agus Subiyanto and Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
“The four of you resign together,” Arif said, meaning that all four officials should resign together.
According to Arif, their resignations would demonstrate institutional accountability and mark an initial step toward internal reform.
His statement represented his personal analysis during a public forum. Neither the government nor the institutions involved had adopted the proposal as an official position.
Suara.com documented the demand and Arif’s remarks at the discussion. Arif also criticized Listyo for referring to Burhanuddin as his senior mentor during their meeting at the Attorney General’s Office (AGO).
“Mentor? The Attorney General’s Office is a partner at the same level as the National Police,” Arif said. He argued that the police and prosecution service should operate as equal partners within Indonesia’s criminal justice system.
“Since when did the police become subordinate to the attorney general’s office and vice versa?” he added, questioning when either institution had become subordinate to the other. Suara.com reported the comments separately.
Listyo and Burhanuddin met at the Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta on Monday, July 13. Both officials rejected suggestions of an institutional dispute and pledged to strengthen cooperation between police investigators and prosecutors.
The National Police’s official public relations division confirmed that the meeting focused on institutional solidarity and law-enforcement coordination. Listyo said their cooperation aimed to provide legal certainty and justice for the public, according to ANTARA.
Police previously designated Febrie and private-sector figure Don Ritto as suspects in alleged corruption and money laundering cases. Authorities subsequently transferred the investigations to the AGO.
On July 15, the AGO announced three general investigation orders covering Krakatau, PLN coal procurement and Asabri-related cases.
The prosecution service currently treats Febrie and Don as witnesses under those new orders while investigators review the transferred evidence. Police determinations remain part of the case record, Tirto reported.
The law requires investigators to respect the presumption of innocence. A final and binding court ruling must prove any accused person guilty.
