BOGOR, thekabarnews.com—President Prabowo Subianto received an update on the University of the Republic of Indonesia’s leadership-training program and campus development during a meeting at his Hambalang residence on Sunday, Oct. 25.
Retired Air Chief Marshal Donny Ermawan Taufanto, who serves as governor of the university, briefed Prabowo on the progress of 384 participants in the Presidential Program for Future Leaders (P3MD). He also reported on preparations for the participants’ internships. In addition, he spoke about the construction of URI’s planned campus in Cikasungka, Bogor.
“URI’s governor reported that 384 participants in the Presidential Program for Future Leaders will undertake internships in January and February 2027,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said in an official statement.

The government has not publicly disclosed the internship locations, host institutions or division of participants between the two months. Therefore, the announcement establishes the proposed period but does not provide a detailed implementation schedule.
P3MD is being organized by URI in cooperation with Danantara Corporate University. Earlier in October, Coordinating Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono delivered a leadership enrichment session. The same 384 participants attended that session.
His ministry described them as prospective leaders for Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises. The ministry said the program combines managerial development with an understanding of national development priorities.
The Hambalang meeting also covered progress on URI’s permanent educational facilities.

“URI’s governor also reported on the progress of construction of the University of the Republic of Indonesia building in Cikasungka, Bogor. This is part of the development of facilities for leadership education and training,” Teddy said.
Donny previously said the permanent campus would occupy former plantation land belonging to state-owned plantation company PTPN. URI plans to use temporary premises on Medan Merdeka Selatan in Central Jakarta while preparing the Bogor complex.
Prabowo formally appointed Donny as URI governor and Yos Sunitiyoso as deputy governor at the State Palace on July 22, 2026. Their appointments were based on Presidential Decree No. 80/P/2026, according to the State Secretariat.
“Through the University of the Republic of Indonesia, we expect to produce national leaders who are resilient, academically accomplished and firmly committed to nationalism,” Teddy said.
No new policy or funding decision was announced after Sunday’s meeting. However, the briefing showed that the government is continuing preparations for both the P3MD internship stage and URI’s permanent facilities. This is part of its broader leadership-development agenda.
