PONTIANAK, Thekabarnews.com—In a period of rapid social and technological change, people now view young civil servants (ASNs) as an important driving force of bureaucratic transformation in Indonesia, rather than merely complementary figures.
Young ASNs are giving new impetus to public administration, and it’s not just a dynamic momentum but a momentum that is meaningful and driven by purpose. Moreover, they bring new energy, creativity, and the courage to innovate.
Government institutions are increasingly encouraging young ASNs to become agents of change that strengthen public trust. In addition, they aim to improve service quality under the theme “The Energy of Young ASN in Building Integrity and Readiness to Serve.”
Officials say with growing demands for faster, more transparent, and accountable public services, the role of young ASNs is becoming more strategic in Indonesia.
To be an agent of change is to step out of your comfort zones, to dare to think differently, and to always stand for integrity in every decision and move.
Young ASNs should be not only intellectually capable but also morally strong, honest, transparent, and responsible in serving the public.
The head of the West Kalimantan Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM West Kalimantan), Windy Prihastari, stressed that integrity should be the foundation of every work carried out by the civil servants.
Integrity is a slogan and the major pillar for building public trust.
“Meanwhile, the real form of commitment to be present, to work, and to give the best for the nation and the region is the readiness to serve,” Windy said.
Windy maintains that the problems of the modern bureaucracy require civil servants who are adaptive, solution-oriented, and committed to ethical leadership.
“Young ASNs have a unique advantage, as they tend to be more open to digital transformation, innovation, and new approaches to governance,” she added.
Government institutions continue to accelerate digital public services and improve administrative efficiency, making this flexibility essential.
Improving the integrity of Young ASNs is key to preventing corruption and ensuring sustainable institutional reform.
Officials say what is relevant for public trust in government is the character and professionalism of people implementing policies, not just policy outcomes.
Leadership development programs for ASNs in West Kalimantan and throughout Indonesia increasingly emphasize character building as well as technical competence.
“It is about training public servants to deliver results without compromising on ethical values,” Windy remarked.
The future of Indonesia’s bureaucracy will depend largely on young ASN’s ability to strike a balance between innovation and integrity.
As public expectations rise, young civil servants will lead reform. They are not just administrators; they are leaders who can command trust and bring about meaningful change.
Many institutions have a clear message: strong, ethical, and service-oriented young ASNs are essential for successfully leading the bureaucracy reform.
