PONTIANAK, thekabarnews.com—The Pontianak District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari) has received a Rp50 million ($3,000) installment from corruption convict Samuel, S.E., M.Si. This comes as authorities move to enforce a final Supreme Court ruling.
On Thursday, July 30, the office’s Special Crimes Section accepted the payment. It represents part of an Rp300 million criminal fine imposed under Indonesian Supreme Court Decision No. 2709 K/Pid.Sus/2026. That decision was dated April 1, 2026.
According to the Pontianak Kejari’s statement, the ruling has obtained permanent legal force. This allows prosecutors to execute the sentence because the defendant has exhausted all ordinary legal remedies.
The Rp50 million payment covers approximately 16.7% of the total fine. Samuel consequently has Rp250 million, or about 83.3%, left to pay.
“The Rp50 million installment received forms part of the convict’s obligation to fulfill the criminal fine as stipulated in the court’s ruling,” the Pontianak Kejari said in its statement.
The Pontianak Kejari did not disclose the installment schedule or the deadline for settling the balance. It also did not release further details about the underlying corruption offense.
The Pontianak Kejari said it would continue monitoring the payment process. It will collect the outstanding amount in accordance with applicable Indonesian law.
Criminal-fine payments arising from final court judgments are classified as non-tax state revenue under Government Regulation No. 37/2024.
The Attorney General’s Office must deposit all non-tax state revenue into the state treasury under the regulation, according to the BPK legal database.
The installment is therefore part of the formal execution of a criminal judgment. It is not a voluntary settlement or private compensation arrangement.
The Pontianak District Prosecutor’s Office will continue enforcing the ruling until Samuel pays his remaining court-ordered fine. This will be under the terms of the ruling and prevailing regulations.
“We will implement every court ruling professionally, accountably and transparently, including by enforcing criminal fines in corruption cases,” the Pontianak Kejari said.
It added that the collection effort reflects the Attorney General’s Office’s broader commitment to fair law enforcement. It also shows the effective implementation of final and binding court decisions.
The public will now monitor whether Samuel pays the remaining Rp250 million. Another issue is how prosecutors respond if the convict fails to meet his obligations.
