JAKARTA, thekabarnews.com—Malaysian food and beverage chain Oriental Kopi is preparing to enter Indonesia, targeting the opening of its first Jakarta outlet by the end of 2026 as part of a broader international expansion strategy.
The proposed opening would mark Oriental Kopi’s first restaurant in Indonesia—not its first overseas location.
The company already operates three cafés in Singapore through a joint venture, according to its latest publicly available corporate reports.
Oriental Kopi plans to introduce its Malaysian-style Nanyang coffee, signature egg tarts and traditional dishes to Indonesian consumers.
Jakarta offers the company access to a large urban market with strong demand for café dining and regional Asian cuisine.
First-quarter 2026 financials from Indonesian retail group Erajaya Swasembada confirmed the expansion. Erajaya established PT Era Oriental Kopi, a Jakarta-based subsidiary, in 2026, according to the report.
Erajaya holds a 60 percent stake in the company, which had assets of about Rp20.16 billion as of March 31, 2026.
The corporate structure indicates that Oriental Kopi is pursuing its Indonesian entry through a local partnership rather than operating independently.
Oriental Kopi previously said it was considering joint ventures, master franchise agreements and conventional franchise arrangements for its international operations.
Its 2025 annual report identified Indonesia, Thailand and the Philippines as markets under preliminary discussion. Oriental Kopi Annual Report 2025
“Since day one, our vision has been to promote authentic Malaysian cuisine to the world. We plan to focus first on neighboring countries with similar cultural and culinary preferences before expanding further,” Managing Director Datuk Calvin Chan Jian Chern said in an earlier expansion briefing, as quoted by The Edge Malaysia.
Oriental Kopi’s overseas push follows a period of strong financial growth. For the six months ended March 31, 2026, the company reported RM286.5 million in revenue, up 42.5 percent from RM201 million a year earlier. Net profit increased 19.2 percent to RM32.1 million.
As of May 26, 2026, the group operated 34 cafés—31 in Malaysia and three in Singapore. Café operations generated RM257 million, or nearly 90 percent of its half-year revenue.
“For Oriental Kopi, growth is only one part of the equation. For us, it must always be sustainable, and that is our whole mission,” Chan said.
Management has also identified Mauritius as a prospective market. As of August 15, no publicly accessible Bursa Malaysia filing provided a confirmed location, partner or opening schedule for Mauritius.
Jakarta remains the company’s most concrete new international destination based on available corporate records.
