JAKARTA, thekabarnews.com—KFC Indonesia operator PT Fast Food Indonesia Tbk narrowed its net loss in the first half of 2026. The restaurant company neared profitability on the back of higher sales and operational improvements.
The publicly traded company, listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange as FAST, earned Rp2.78 trillion in revenue from January to June 2026. This figure was up 15.8 percent from around Rp2.40 trillion in the same period of 2025.
Despite the sales recovery, FAST recorded a net loss attributable to owners of the parent company of Rp56.74 billion. The loss narrowed by about 59 percent from Rp138.75 billion a year earlier.
The improvement extends a recovery that began in early 2026. FAST reported a net profit of Rp13.29 billion in the first quarter. This reversed a Rp36.78 billion loss recorded during the corresponding period of 2025, according to financial data compiled by Katadata.
Rising food costs continued to pressure the company’s margins. FAST’s cost of goods sold reached Rp1.23 trillion in the first half, equivalent to approximately 44.2 percent of revenue.
For comparison, the company recorded Rp961.44 billion in the cost of goods sold during the first half of 2025. Costs increased faster than sales, which reduced the financial advantage of those increased sales.
The latest figures indicate that FAST still faces the challenge of balancing customer demand, menu pricing and raw-material costs. It must maintain the operational scale of its restaurant network.
FAST operated 683 KFC restaurants across 36 Indonesian provinces and more than 169 cities at the end of 2025. It also operated seven Taco Bell outlets, according to the company’s 2025 annual report. The group employed 11,664 people across both brands.
FAST’s improving financial performance comes as its shares remain under market scrutiny. The Indonesia Stock Exchange issued an Unusual Market Activity notice for FAST on March 16, 2026. The notice came after identifying an abnormal decline in the share price.
The exchange stressed that the notice did not constitute evidence of wrongdoing.
“An unusual market activity announcement does not necessarily indicate a violation of capital market laws and regulations,” IDX said in the official notice, reproduced by UOB Kay Hian Indonesia.
IDX asked investors to monitor FAST’s disclosures and examine the company’s financial performance. They should also review any planned corporate actions before making investment decisions.
The March notice preceded the release of FAST’s first-half financial results. It should not be interpreted as a direct response to the latest earnings.
UMA status signals that the exchange is monitoring unusual trading patterns. It does not automatically mean the company or investors breached market regulations.
PT Fast Food Indonesia, established in 1978, holds the franchise rights for KFC and Taco Bell in Indonesia. The company has traded on the Indonesian stock market since May 1993.
