Thekabarnews.com – Jackie Chan does not appear in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. His renowned stunt team helped create the film’s fight choreography. The team also trained Tom Holland for its physically demanding action sequences.
The Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios production opened in Indonesian cinemas on July 29, 2026, two days before its official United States release. Indonesian cinema chain CGV lists the superhero film with a running time of 145 minutes.
Although the collaboration has attracted renewed attention following the film’s release, Chan first disclosed his team’s involvement in an August 2025 interview. He gave this interview to Hong Kong outlet HK01.
“I went to London and visited the set. My Jackie Chan Stunt Team was busy filming Spider-Man,” Chan said.
Chan explained that he directed and supervised his stunt team and watched its rehearsals during his visit. He did not serve as the film’s overall action director and has no confirmed acting role in the production.
The Jackie Chan Stunt Team provided action guidance, fight choreography and physical training for the cast. In fact, Zhang Peng, a stunt performer and fight choreographer associated with the team, served as the film’s main stunt coordinator. This information is according to China.org.cn.
The team worked with Holland in the United Kingdom. Together they developed the movements and fights performed by his version of Peter Parker.
“We had a wonderful stunt team who came from China to the U.K. to train me up,” Holland said while promoting the film in Shanghai.
Holland said the collaboration helped the production make its fight scenes more realistic and improve the action. The team’s experience in choreographing close-quarters combat, physical comedy and environment-based stunts complements Spider-Man’s agile fighting style.
The production still uses visual effects extensively, as expected from a Spider-Man film. The stunt team’s work gave performers a stronger physical foundation for the action captured on set.
Chan established his stunt team in the 1970s. Its members have contributed to action films including Project A, Police Story, Drunken Master II and Thunderbolt. In the process, they developed a reputation for complex choreography and practical stunt performance.
Chan’s 2025 comments to HK01 confirmed that his team handled action guidance for the Spider-Man production in London. Director Destin Daniel Cretton previously directed Marvel Studios’ Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. He also led Brand New Day.
The official Sony Pictures listing credits Cretton as director and Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers as writers. The cast includes Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo.
The film has also delivered a historic commercial debut. It earned US$360 million in the United States and Canada during its opening weekend. As a result, it broke the North American record previously held by Avengers: Endgame.
