Indonesia won two gold medals, one silver and one bronze at the 2026 World Climbing Series in Chamonix, France. Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi and Veddriq Leonardo claimed speed titles. Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi took silver, and Putra Tri Ramadani secured bronze in the men’s lead final, completing Indonesia’s campaign.
Thekabarnews.com—Indonesian climbers collected four medals at the World Climbing Series, Chamonix 2026. This strengthens the country’s position among the world’s leading speed-climbing nations. They achieved a podium finish in lead climbing.
The competition took place in Chamonix, France, from July 10 to 12. It attracted 295 registered athletes—139 women and 156 men—from 43 countries across five continents, according to World Climbing.
Indonesia won two gold medals and one silver in speed climbing. Afterward, Putra Tri Ramadani added a bronze in the men’s lead final.
Desak Made Rita Kusuma Dewi captured the women’s speed title after defeating Italy’s Giulia Randi. Desak completed the final race in 6.22 seconds, while Randi recorded 6.51 seconds.
The victory marked Desak’s second consecutive World Climbing Series gold following her triumph in Krakow, Poland, one week earlier.
Paris 2024 Olympic champion Veddriq Leonardo then won the men’s speed event in an all-Indonesian final against Antasyafi Robby Al Hilmi. Veddriq clocked 4.89 seconds, ahead of Antasyafi’s 5.11 seconds.
World Climbing described the result as Veddriq’s return to the top of the podium following injury problems after the Paris Olympics. Veddriq said it was his first gold medal since winning the Olympic title. Indonesia consequently claimed three of the six speed medals available in Chamonix.
Putra completed Indonesia’s medal tally by securing bronze in the men’s lead competition. He reached hold 38+, matching Slovenia’s Luka Potočar. However, Potočar earned silver through countback because he had placed higher than Putra in the semifinal.
Spain’s Alberto Ginés López won the event after reaching hold 39+, according to the official World Climbing report.
The Indonesian Rock Climbing Federation sent 10 athletes to Chamonix, comprising seven speed climbers and three lead climbers. The lead team used the competition to gain international experience. The event was ahead of the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, ANTARA reported.
Indonesia’s performance demonstrated its continuing strength in speed climbing. Meanwhile, Putra’s bronze also provided further evidence of Indonesia’s growing competitiveness in lead climbing after he won the country’s first World Climbing Series lead gold in Prague in June 2026.
