Thekabarnews.com—The Maluku Regional Police have revealed the alleged motive behind the stabbing of Agrapinus Rumatora, aka Nus Kei. He is the Maluku Southeast regional chairman of the Golkar Party.
After the incident at Karel Sadsuitubun Airport, police named two suspects, HR (28) and FU (36), in the case. The two suspects said they carried out the attack in revenge, authorities said.
Maluku Police Head of Public Relations, Rositah Umasugi, said the suspects linked their actions to the killing of their relative, Fenansius Wadanubun, alias Dani Holat, in 2020.
“They said they had a grudge because they believe that the victim, Nus Kei, was involved in the killing of their relative,” said Rositah, Monday, April 20.
In 2020, police reported the murder of Dani Holat near the Metro Galaxy Apartment in Kalimalang, Bekasi, West Java. The incident strengthened the suspects’ motive for revenge and led them to carry out the stabbing attack.
The authorities have not disclosed details of the extent of Nus Kei’s alleged involvement in the earlier case. However, they reiterated that investigators are focusing the current investigation on the stabbing and the suspects’ actions.
The chief of police in Maluku has told officers in Southeast Maluku to treat the case professionally, transparently, and thoroughly. Investigators are still gathering evidence and reviewing witness statements to make sure the legal process is thorough.
Police also urged the victim’s family and supporters to refrain from taking retaliatory action. Officials emphasized the importance of allowing law enforcement to handle the case in accordance with the law.
The stabbing has drawn public interest in the region in part because of its association with a prior violent incident and the involvement of a political figure. While the probe is ongoing, authorities say public order remains a priority.
Police are urging all sides to be patient and to work with them as the investigation unfolds. In addition, they are emphasizing the importance of the legal system in handling conflicts and delivering justice.
