FILM REVIEW, thekabarnews.com—A24’s Onslaught, an action-horror film starring Adria Arjona, moves to digital platforms on Oct. 6, 2026, after opening in US theaters on Sept. 4. Adam Wingard directed the science-fiction thriller, which combines a military experiment gone wrong with a siege-style survival story.
Arjona plays Celeste, a former US Army sniper who lives with her young daughter in an isolated desert trailer community. Their lives descend into chaos after genetically engineered soldiers escape from a secret facility and attack anyone who crosses their path.
The official synopsis says Celeste must use her military training to protect her daughter from the rogue unit. The film’s trailers show her fighting back with firearms and a chainsaw as the soldiers tear through homes in her neighborhood.
Three enhanced soldiers lead the assault: Crybaby, Cockroach and The Butcher. Professional fighter Alex Pereira plays The Butcher, while Tyler Hall and Dave Campbell portray Crybaby and Cockroach, respectively.
The trailer describes the soldiers as “the human equivalent of a heat-seeking missile,” presenting them as biological weapons programmed to locate and destroy their targets.
Dan Stevens plays scientist Hans Kammler, who appears to have a central role in developing the experimental fighters. The supporting cast includes Rebecca Hall, Drew Starkey, Michael Biehn, Reginald VelJohnson and Eric Wareheim, according to the film’s official A24 listing.
The film reunites Stevens with Wingard after The Guest and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Wingard developed the story with longtime collaborator Simon Barrett, who wrote the screenplay.
Production took place in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In a note published by A24, Wingard described the project as a return to the more personal filmmaking style that defined his earlier work.
The remote desert setting supports the film’s main conflict. What begins as a covert military crisis soon reaches Celeste’s community, forcing her to confront enemies with abilities beyond those of ordinary soldiers.
A24 released Onslaught widely in US cinemas on Sept. 4. Box Office Mojo has recorded approximately US$3.36 million in worldwide ticket sales, although the figure may change as reporting continues.
Digital release listings identify Oct. 6 as the film’s transactional video-on-demand date. Availability, pricing and platform access may differ in Indonesia and other markets.
Rather than introducing a new concept, Onslaught builds its appeal around Wingard’s energetic direction, Arjona’s performance and an intimate mother-daughter survival story. The result offers action-horror audiences a violent confrontation between human resolve and military technology stripped of control.
