KUBU RAYA, Thekabarnews.com—Kubu Raya Regent Sujiwo reiterated his commitment to oversee a Rp93 billion clean water project funded from the state budget (APBN). He described the project as one of the most strategic infrastructure priorities in the region.
The project would have a giant impact on public health, growth of investment, and regional economic development, he said.
“Clean water services are second in order to infrastructure. The impact is also on health and investment, so I have to give maximum attention to this project,” said Sujiwo when visiting work at PT Anugerah Tirta Indonesia in Batam, Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
Regent Sujiwo, as the Capital Ownership Authority (KPM) of Perumdam Tirta Raya Kubu Raya, said he has a moral responsibility. He must ensure that the project runs according to all legal mechanisms and government procedures.
He stressed that at each stage, the implementation must strictly follow the official technical guidelines and execution standards issued by the government. This includes the choice of materials and supporting products used in the construction process.
“We have to make sure the products we buy are of excellent quality and are durable,” Sujiwo said.
The Arang Limbung Water Treatment Plant (IPA) project in Sungai Raya District will improve the distribution of clean water and the quality of service to the local community. We will make the improvements by carrying out the work in stages.
Sujiwo said the government wants residents to start feeling the benefits of improved water services next year.
“Insha Allah, next year, clean water services in Sungai Raya and surrounding areas will be better, cleaner, and flow more strongly,” he said.
Beside the Arang Limbung IPA project, the Kubu Raya Regency administration is building another clean water project. This is using a business-to-business (B2B) scheme in the Sungai Kakap District.
The parallel project is designed to expand access to clean water beyond the core urban-serviced areas. It will also improve water security in the regency over the longer term.
Sujiwo said the government is targeting the operational status of clean water services in Sungai Kakap to be optimal in mid-2027.
“We will work tirelessly to ensure that all Kubu Raya residents receive proper clean water services,” he stated.
The Kubu Raya administration considers that improving access to clean water is one of the top policy priorities. This is because the matter is directly related to public health, household welfare, and the attractiveness of the region for investment.
Officials also expect that better water infrastructure will help reduce the risk of disease and boost housing development. In addition, it will create a stronger base for economic growth.
With continued infrastructure development, the local government hopes the project will be a long-term solution for one of the region’s most essential public service needs. This need is for reliable access to safe and clean water.
