TANGERANG, thekabarnews.com—Indonesia’s Immigration and Corrections Ministry has revoked the conditional release of convicted Binomo affiliate Indra Kesuma (Indra Kenz), following an internal investigation prompted by the discovery of alleged luxury facilities at Cibinong Penitentiary.
Corrections officers collected Indra from the location where he had been serving his conditional release on Thursday, Oct. 8. They transferred him to Class I Tangerang Penitentiary in Banten, where he will continue serving his sentence.
“Indra Kenz was cooperative and accepted the decision to revoke his conditional-release decree,” Ishadi Maja Prayitno, head of rehabilitation and services at the West Java regional office of the Directorate General of Corrections, said in Bandung.
“We collected him at 11:30 a.m. for the journey to Tangerang Penitentiary. He was admitted to Class I Tangerang Penitentiary at 2:30 p.m.,” Ishadi added.
The revocation ended a brief period of conditional release that began on Sept. 24. During that period, Indra had to report to the Bogor Correctional Center once a month, according to Antara.
The ministry reviewed Indra’s status after the Indonesian Ombudsman conducted an unannounced inspection at Class IIA Cibinong Penitentiary on Sept. 23.
The Ombudsman said its team found more than 10 house-like buildings near the prison complex. One unit reportedly contained a living room, bedroom, television and refrigerator. Inspectors also found an unsecured rear access point connected to a bamboo grove and a waste-disposal area.
The Ombudsman described the buildings as a suspected “luxury cluster” allegedly occupied by inmates. Its officers said prison personnel initially prevented the inspection team from entering the inmate housing blocks.
Immigration and Corrections Ministry Insp. Gen. Rudi Setiawan later said an internal inquiry identified alleged abuse of authority, irregularities in the reporting of state-owned assets and violations of several operating procedures at Cibinong Penitentiary.
“Indra Kusuma, or Indra Kenz, has been recommended to the Directorate General of Corrections for the withdrawal of his conditional release,” Rudi said before the ministry formally issued the revocation.
Investigators also examined three containers recorded as state-owned assets. Authorities alleged that inmates had equipped them with luxury facilities and linked Indra to the procurement of some items. The ministry has not publicly released the complete investigation report or detailed each individual finding against him.
The Tangerang District Court sentenced Indra to 10 years in prison and imposed a Rp5 billion (US$299,000) fine in November 2022. The court found him guilty of disseminating false information that caused consumer losses in connection with the Binomo binary-options platform and of committing money laundering.
The Banten High Court upheld the prison term, while the Supreme Court later rejected Indra’s judicial-review petition. The 10-year sentence therefore remains legally binding.
By returning Indra to custody, the ministry has placed him back under full prison supervision. The case has also renewed scrutiny of equal treatment, security controls and accountability within Indonesia’s correctional facilities.
