KETAPANG, thekabarnews.com—Former Ketapang deputy regent Farhan has officially taken charge of the National Awakening Party’s Ketapang branch (DPC PKB) for the 2026–2031 term.
The West Kalimantan PKB regional board handed over the management decree confirming the new leadership on Saturday, August 1.
Farhan succeeds the branch’s previous leadership as the party begins reorganizing its network ahead of future elections.
Speaking at his residence in Ketapang on Tuesday, August 4, Farhan thanked PKB constituents, branch officials and former party leaders for the mandate entrusted to him. He received this mandate during the Ketapang branch conference.
Farhan said his first priority would be an internal consolidation meeting. This meeting aims to strengthen cooperation, unity and organizational discipline among party officials.
“I again invite constituents and fellow party officials to work together until PKB is truly accepted by the public and can deliver a positive impact so that in future elections and political activities PKB earns a place in people’s hearts,” Farhan said.
His appointment followed a broader PKB leadership selection process in West Kalimantan. In May, the party conducted fit-and-proper tests for 79 DPC chairman candidates representing the province’s 14 regencies and cities. A report on the PKB selection process listed Farhan among the candidates from Ketapang.
PKB subsequently inaugurated 514 DPC chairpersons from across Indonesia for the 2026–2031 term on July 22. The party said it would evaluate the performance of its local leaders annually.
Farhan said the Ketapang branch would examine the performance of its 20 subdistrict-level executive boards, known as DPACs. Ketapang comprises 20 subdistricts, according to the BPS’ Ketapang data.
“We will consolidate to ensure our DPAC colleagues remain active and continue working in every subdistrict,” Farhan said.
“If there are vacancies, we will reorganize them so every DPAC is properly established and can operate as a political party that has begun working on the ground. We will also consolidate and strengthen the branch boards,” he added.
The planned restructuring will extend to village-level party organizations, although Farhan has not announced a timetable or measurable membership targets.
Farhan brings government and electoral experience to the position. He previously served as Ketapang deputy regent and contested the 2024 Ketapang regent election alongside Leonardus Rantan.
Official Ketapang Election Commission records indicate that PKB was among the five parties supporting his candidacy.
PKB secured two seats in the 45-member Ketapang Regional Legislative Council in the 2024 election. This is according to the Ketapang council’s official results summary.
Farhan’s ability to reactivate subdistrict and village networks will therefore become an important test. It will show whether the party can expand its local political support.
