KUBU RAYA, thekabarnews.com—A dispute between a patient’s family and a hospital worker at Tuan Besar Syarif Idrus Regional General Hospital (RSUD TBSI) has ended peacefully. This was the result of mediation by hospital management and the Kubu Raya Health Office.
The incident attracted public attention after information about the confrontation circulated widely on social media. The hospital announced the reconciliation on Monday, August 10.
RSUD TBSI Director Dr. Asep Ahmad Saefullah said the mediation allowed both parties to explain their positions. He added that they accepted panic had contributed to the confrontation.
“The two sides were able to come together and understand that an incident like this can happen anywhere and at any time when people are panicking,” Asep said in a statement distributed to journalists.
According to Asep, the patient’s family apologized directly to the hospital worker. The worker accepted the apology, allowing both parties to resolve the matter without prolonging the conflict.
The hospital’s statement did not disclose the patient’s identity, medical condition or a detailed chronology of the original dispute.
No independently verified account has established the precise cause of the confrontation. The parties focused their public statements on reconciliation rather than assigning blame.
Kubu Raya Health Office Head Wan Iwansyah, who witnessed the mediation, asked social media users to stop speculating about the incident. He explained that the people directly involved had reached an agreement.
“I personally witnessed the mediation. It was very harmonious and conducted in a strong family spirit. Hopefully, there will be no further speculation on social media about what happened,” Wan said.
He expressed hope that similar confrontations would not occur again and pledged to continue improving service quality at RSUD TBSI.
During emergencies, hospital management should be able to communicate clearly. This is important because patients and their relatives often feel intense stress, uncertainty and fear.
Prompt explanations about medical procedures, waiting times and treatment decisions can help prevent misunderstandings from escalating.
The resolution comes as the Kubu Raya administration works to strengthen RSUD TBSI’s role as a regional referral hospital.
The local health office has supervised its planned upgrade from a Type D to a Type C hospital. This is intended to ensure compliance with service, infrastructure and governance standards.
The Kubu Raya administration previously said the upgraded facility would have at least 100 beds. It would also provide more advanced services for cancer, heart disease and stroke.
Planned equipment included a CT scanner, catheterization laboratory, mammography unit and hemodialysis facilities, according to the district administration.
RSUD TBSI states that patient safety and satisfaction form the core of its service policy. Its published values also require personnel to treat patients fairly, professionally and politely.
Wan said the Health Office would use the incident as part of its continuing efforts to improve hospital services. It also aims to turn RSUD TBSI into a trusted public hospital for Kubu Raya residents.
