Attorney General ST Burhanuddin installed five senior officials at Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office on July 24, under Presidential Decree No. 87/TPA/2026. Asep Nana Mulyana became deputy attorney general. Kuntadi took charge of special crimes. He pledged faster, transparent handling of major cases attracting public attention nationwide as a priority.
JAKARTA, thekabarnews.com—Indonesian Attorney General ST Burhanuddin officially installed five senior officials at the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) on Friday, July 24. This marked a major leadership transition in the country’s prosecution service.
The appointments followed Presidential Decree No. 87/TPA/2026 concerning the dismissal and appointment of senior executive officials within Kejagung.
President Prabowo Subianto selected the five officials before Burhanuddin administered their oaths at the Attorney General’s Office in South Jakarta. This information was reported according to ANTARA.
“Earlier today, we conducted the installation of first-echelon officials within the Attorney General’s Office,” Kejagung spokesperson Anang Supriatna told a press conference after the ceremony.
The five officials appointed under the presidential decree are:
- Asep Nana Mulyana as Deputy Attorney General.
- Leonard Eben Ezer Simanjuntak as Assistant Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum).
- Kuntadi as Assistant Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus).
- Harli Siregar as head of the Attorney General’s Office Education and Training Agency.
- Patris Yusrian Jaya as head of the Asset Recovery Agency.
Kuntadi replaces Febrie Adriansyah as Jampidsus. This places him in charge of investigating and prosecuting major corruption and other special-crime cases handled by Kejagung.
Asep said Burhanuddin instructed the newly appointed officials to strengthen coordination and cooperation across divisions.
Kejagung also gave Asep a specific mandate to supervise the consistent implementation of Indonesia’s new Criminal Code (KUHP) and Criminal Law Procedures Code (KUHAP). He will focus on both general and special-crime cases.
Indonesia’s new Criminal Code under Law No. 1/2023 and its new Criminal Procedure Code under Law No. 20/2025 took effect on January 2, 2026. The change was noted according to the State Secretariat.
The revised procedure code strengthens coordination between investigators and prosecutors. It introduces mechanisms including restorative justice, plea bargaining and deferred prosecution agreements.
Kejagung reported that prosecutors had applied six of nine new mechanisms across 605 cases between January and May 2026. This information was stated according to an official midyear evaluation.
Kuntadi said Burhanuddin emphasized stronger coordination, comprehensive evaluation and faster resolution of cases attracting significant public scrutiny.
“We will evaluate the handling of all cases, including those that attract public attention and those considered particularly significant. Completing and accelerating those cases will become my priority. Above all, we must safeguard integrity, objectivity and transparency,” Kuntadi said.
The leadership transition places public expectations on Kuntadi to advance major investigations while maintaining due process, institutional independence and transparency.
