The head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, said she submitted her resignation to President Prabowo Subianto to seek treatment overseas for a heart condition. Prabowo approved the request and suggested another oversight role, she says. The government had not published a presidential decree or official BGN confirmation as of July 22.

JAKARTA, thekabarnews.com—Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), said she submitted her resignation to President Prabowo Subianto to focus on treatment for a heart condition.

Nanik announced her decision in a statement on her personal Facebook account on Wednesday, July 22. She said she had spoken directly to Prabowo and had his approval to leave the agency’s top leadership.

The government had not yet published a presidential decree confirming her dismissal as of Wednesday. Neither the BGN nor the State Secretariat had issued separate statements indicating an actual leadership change. Reporters should describe the development as a submitted resignation rather than a completed departure.

Nanik said she wanted to seek a second opinion from a doctor abroad. She wouldn’t say where she was going, what her treatment schedule was, or any other clinical details.

“I trust Indonesia’s excellent doctors. I want to get a second opinion after being recommended by a colleague at the place where I will receive treatment,” Nanik said.

Nanik is reportable because she has gone public with her condition. Reporters should keep additional medical information confidential unless she or an authorized representative authorizes its disclosure.

Nanik said Prabowo had asked her to continue to monitor BGN’s operations and policy direction after she left the company’s executive structure. In addition, she said the president planned to create a BGN Supervisory Council and had proposed that she lead it.

As of July 22, the government had not published a presidential decree establishing the proposed council or appointing its members.

Currently, BGN is organized under Presidential Regulation No. 83/2024. The agency has a steering council and an executive structure led by a head and deputy heads.

The regulation does not make a separate mention of a body called the “Supervisory Council.” Thus, creating one may require either a regulatory amendment or further legal clarification.

Presidential Regulation No. 83/2024 Prabowo appointed Nanik in early June to replace Dadan Hindayana. She was formally sworn in at the State Palace on June 8, according to BGN. As a result, she had been head of BGN for about six weeks when she announced her resignation.

BGN runs the MBG program for free meals throughout the country. BGN program data showed that 19,188 SPPGs stood ready to serve approximately 55.1 million beneficiaries across Indonesia in early 2026.

Given the program’s national scale, it is important to confirm interim leadership, and decision-making authority to ensure continuity of operations. Nanik’s legal status as the BGN head is still pending official clarification before the president signs a decree.
