Kubu Raya, Thekabarnews.com—The Kubu Raya Regency administration is moving faster on its plans to boost the economy and create jobs. This is happening because unemployment has gone up a little bit. Regent Sujiwo said that the rise is still small. However, the government is distressed about it now.
Sujiwo talked after giving the Kubu Raya Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) the 2025 Regional Government Accountability Report (LKPJ) on March 31. He said that many things that had nothing to do with the company made the rise happen.
The closing of a big mall and the loss of jobs in the plantation industry are two examples.
“The rise is not massive, but we are taking it seriously. The closing of stores and the loss of jobs at plantation companies have had an effect,” Sujiwo stated.
The local government wants to help businesses grow so they can hire more people and resolve the problem. In addition, the administration wants to lower the cost of doing business. It also hopes to make it easier to get a license so that business owners can hire more people.
“By making rules less strict and lowering barriers, we will give businesses more room to grow. This will lead to more jobs,” Sujiwo said.
The government wants to build roads for economic corridors, which should help the local economy. The regent says that better infrastructure will make it easier for goods and services to move around. As a result, the project will bring in more money and create new chances for businesses and workers.
“Things get better when roads get better. This opens up new business opportunities, creates jobs, and eventually lowers unemployment,” he said.
The project has a lot of money set aside by the central government and the legislature.
Sujiwo said that the Presidential Instruction on Regional Roads (Inpres Jalan Daerah) has set aside about Rp120 billion. The Special Allocation Fund (DAK) could give out another Rp50 billion.
For a long time, people have believed that building infrastructure is a big part of the economy’s growth in a region.
Local governments can create new business opportunities by making it easier for people to get around. This is especially true in areas where services have been inadequate in the past.
Regent Sujiwo emphasized that pro-business strategies and infrastructure spending will play a key role in reducing unemployment in 2026.
He also stressed how important it is for everyone to work together to make sure that growth in the economy really does make people’s lives better.
“Such an approach will not work if everyone does not pitch in. Economic growth must be accompanied by improved community welfare,” Sujiwo remarked.
Kubu Raya will closely monitor the progress of these plans to assess their effectiveness. This is especially true because the area is trying to find a balance between jobs, growth, and long-term goals for development.
