Pontianak, Thekabarnews.com—The Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Wang Lutong, praised the city’s growth and urban planning during his first official visit to Pontianak.
Wang Lutong said these things at a meeting with Pontianak Mayor Edi Rusdi Kamtono at the Pontianak City Hall on Thursday, March 5.
Wang remarked that Pontianak is a business center and an important part of West Kalimantan’s economy. Also, visitors will love the city’s well-planned streets and improving infrastructure.
“We went to Pontianak for the first time, and we are impressed with the city’s infrastructure and urban planning,” Wang stated at the meeting.
He was in Indonesia for a longer trip. This visit was part of it. He had already gone to the Cap Go Meh Festival in Singkawang and the National Chinese New Year celebration in Jakarta.
During the meeting, Wang Lutong also talked about how China and the Pontianak City Administration could work together in a smart way. One of the main ideas was to build a waste-to-energy power plant (PLTSA) to help with getting rid of trash.
Wang said that China has made progress in technology that can turn garbage into power. This could significantly contribute to Indonesia’s national waste-to-energy projects. Additionally, it could help address the trash disposal issues faced by cities like Pontianak. These cities struggle with high volumes of waste and limited landfill space.
He said that several Chinese businesses have already begun investing in similar projects in other parts of Indonesia. As a result, this could enhance the overall effectiveness and funding of Indonesia’s national waste-to-energy initiatives.
“Indonesia has proposed numerous national waste-to-energy projects, some of which have already received approval. Our technology in this field is very advanced,” he stated.
Waste-to-energy plants are becoming more popular as cities look for ways to deal with more trash and make renewable energy.
This is especially true in Indonesia, where the government is actively promoting these projects as a way to solve both problems. These problems include reducing landfill waste and generating electricity from waste materials.
Wang also said he would help with waste management and building big things in Pontianak.
The meeting got a lot of attention for the planned construction of the Garuda Bridge. The proposed infrastructure project aims to decrease traffic and enhance people’s mobility within the city.
The mayor thinks the bridge will be a vital transport link. It will help Pontianak’s economy and make travel easier by facilitating trade and tourism, which are essential for local growth.
Wang Lutong also talked about how close China and Indonesia are to each other. He said that the two countries have been working together more lately.
He said that more and more Chinese companies are putting money into West Kalimantan, especially in the mining industry and the processing of bauxite.
Wang says that these investments show that the two countries are working together more in trade, infrastructure, and industrial development. This is a sign that their economic ties are getting stronger.
Officials hope that the ambassador’s visit will open up new ways for Indonesia and China to work together. For example, joint ventures, trade agreements, and collaborative projects in various sectors are possibilities. These ways could help Pontianak grow and make trade between the two countries better.
