Thekabarnews.com—The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) reported that officials in Pekalongan Regency often told Regent Fadia Arafiq about suspected conflicts of interest involving a family-owned business. Investigators said the company secured several government contracts.
The KPK’s Deputy for Enforcement and Execution, Asep Guntur Rahayu, said that the Pekalongan Regional Secretary (Sekda) and a few other officials sent the warnings. But investigators assume the regent did not pay attention to the concerns.
“The regional secretary and several other parties stated that they had regularly warned the regent about possible conflicts of interest in the procurement process,” Asep said at a news conference at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta, Wednesday, March 4.
Asep also noted that the KPK had aided the Pekalongan Regency administration by giving them guidance and support through its functions in coordinating and overseeing things. The organization intended to make the process of buying things in the area more open and responsible.
“The practice went on even after these warnings,” he said.
During the investigation, the KPK found several pieces of evidence, including a vehicle belonging to an individual identified as RUL and electronic data from several people involved in the case.
According to reports, the case started approximately a year after Fadia’s initial election as Pekalongan Regent. It spanned from 2021 to 2025.
Fadia and her husband, Mukhtaruddin Ashraff Abu, who is a member of Indonesia’s House of Representatives (DPR), and their son, Muhammad Sabiq Ashraff, who is a member of the Pekalongan Regional Legislative Council (DPRD), created a company called PT Raja Nusantara Berjaya (RNB).
People say that PT RNB is a service provider. It has worked as a vendor on several procurement projects for the Pekalongan Regency administration.
Muhammad Sabiq Ashraff was the first Commissioner of PT RNB. Another executive was in charge of running the business. Investigators believe Fadia replaced the company’s director in 2024 with a trusted associate named Rul Bayatun.
KPK found that PT RNB had contracts for outsourcing services with various regional government agencies in Pekalongan from 2023 to 2026. This happened after almost a year of activity.
KPK said that the company got a lot of work from the government during those times.
As a result, investigators have charged Fadia under Article 12 letter i and Article 12B of Indonesia’s Anti-Corruption Law, as revised by Law No. 20 of 2001. Prosecutors also charged her under Article 127, paragraph (1), of the Criminal Code, as stipulated in Law No. 1 of 2023.
Investigators continue to analyze the money and buying processes related to the problem, according to the KPK.
