Thekabarnews.com – The Chairman of the Executive Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), KH Yahya Cholil Staquf (Gus Yahya), emphasized that the 2026 National Conference of Islamic Scholars (Munas Alim Ulama) and the Grand Conference (Konbes) of Nahdlatul Ulama are important platforms. Therefore, these events will prepare the organization in anticipation of its upcoming 35th Congress (Muktamar).

Gus Yahya conveyed these points during the opening ceremony of the Munas Alim Ulama and Konbes NU 2026 at the Pondok Pesantren Al-Falah Ploso, Mojo District, Kediri Regency. Moreover, the event took place on Saturday, June 20.

Nahdlatul Ulama is entering the final stage of its current leadership period. Therefore, it is increasingly important to prepare for the next congress comprehensively, Gus Yahya said.

“We are coming to the end of this period of service under the current Nahdlatul Ulama leadership. With the upcoming Munas Alim Ulama and Grand Conference at Pondok Pesantren Al-Falah, we will prepare everything necessary. This preparation is needed to hold the next 35th Congress,” said Gus Yahya.

He said the preparations for the congress were not solely the responsibility of the central board. Instead, he asked regional leadership structures across Indonesia to play an active role in the future agenda of the organization.

“This conference is an important opportunity for leaders at the national and regional levels to make strategic plans and assess organizational priorities. Moreover, they will discuss issues that will have an impact on the future direction of Nahdlatul Ulama,” Gus Yahya said.

“The conference is a chance for us all. It provides an opportunity for the PBNU leadership and the regional NU leaders throughout Indonesia to do their best for this organization,” he said.

Nahdlatul Ulama, one of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organizations, often uses its national forums to address issues of religion. Furthermore, they discuss social matters, education, and organization.

Historically, the Munas and Konbes have been a forum for scholars, clerics, and administrators to exchange views. At the same time, they make recommendations before major organizational decisions.

Gus Yahya also appealed to the participants to direct their ideas, energy, and commitment to the strengthening of the organization.
