Jakarta, Thekabarnews.com—The perpetrators of the acid attack on a human rights activist in Jakarta are still being sought after by the authorities. The police have released four individuals involved in the attack.
KontraS, the Commission for the Disappeared and Victims of Violence, counts Andrie Yunus, the victim, as one of its members. The attack took place in the Salemba area of Central Jakarta. The incident prompted a large police investigation.
Kombes Pol Iman Imannudin, the head of the Polda Metro Jaya’s General Criminal Investigation, says the suspects fled the scene on two motorcycles and split up to avoid capture.
People say that two suspects got away by riding against traffic toward Pasar Senen. Then the suspects went to Kramat Raya, Tugu Tani, and Gondangdia. Finally, they headed south toward Jakarta.
The other two suspects, on the other hand, went a different way. They went through Pramuka Sari, Matraman, and Jatinegara. Eventually, they got to Jalan Otto Iskandar Dinata in East Jakarta.
Police said that video from security cameras was very useful for following the suspects’ movements. Moreover, investigators discovered that one of the suspects changed clothes during their escape, seemingly to evade capture.
“CCTV footage shows that one suspect changed clothes before running away,” Iman said.
More research into communication networks shows that the suspects later moved to different places, like Bogor, Kalibata, and Ragunan.
Police are still looking for and arresting the suspects. They are gathering evidence from surveillance systems and digital communication data.
“We are still collecting legal evidence based on looking at CCTV footage and communication networks,” Iman said.
Jakarta Police Chief Insp. Gen. Asep Edi Suheri said that the police would handle the case professionally and openly, as President Prabowo Subianto had told them to.
“We are dedicated to handling this case in a professional, open, and responsible way,” Asep said.
He also said that officials are careful about how they share information. This ensures that people do not make guesses and that all updates are accurate.
Many people are discussing the case, which has raised concerns about the safety of activists and the urgency for police action.
As the investigation goes on, the police are asking anyone who knows anything that could help them locate the suspects and bring them to justice to come forward.
