Jakarta, Thekabarnews.com—Danantara, short for Daya Anagata Nusantara, who is in charge of Indonesia’s investments, says that they will give a lot of money to speed up the building of subsidized housing in the Meikarta neighborhood of South Cikarang.
The government is getting ready to give the agency Rp14 trillion to Rp16 trillion to help build 18 skyscrapers with apartments in them. This is part of a plan to help low-income people find affordable housing.
At the groundbreaking ceremony for the subsidized housing complex on March 8, 2026, Danantara’s CEO Rosan P. Roeslani said that the agency was committed to the project.
Rosan said that Danantara will be crucial for securing money for the project because Indonesia needs many cheap houses.
“We gave money to this project, so we have to fully support it. We think it is a fantastic idea, especially since there is so much supply and demand in the market for subsidized housing,” Rosan said.
He noted that the investment agency that the government pays for wants to speed up the process of finding a solution to the housing situation. In particular, they want to do this for families with modest incomes.
The planned housing complex will take up about 12.8 hectares of land in the Meikarta area.
The builders intend to erect 18 residential towers, each with roughly 32 stories. As a result, it will make a massive vertical housing complex.
The goal of the project is to build thousands of homes that low-income families in Indonesia can rent through the low-income earners (MBR) program.
Rosan also said that early estimates put the total cost of building the project at between Rp14 trillion and Rp16 trillion. This shows how big the job is.
“If the idea goes through, with 18 towers of roughly 32 floors apiece, the overall project might be worth between Rp14 trillion and Rp16 trillion,” he stated.
The Indonesian government aims to cut the cost of housing and get rid of the residences that are already on the market. This project is part of the plan.
To make up for the scarcity of land in cities, more and more individuals are erecting apartment towers and other vertical housing complexes.
The government wants to speed up construction while keeping prices low for buyers. They plan to do this by getting loans from the government.
Additionally, they are letting the private sector grow, which will enable developers to build more affordable housing units quickly and efficiently, thereby addressing the urgent need for housing in rapidly growing areas like Bekasi Regency.
Consequently, these measures will help facilitate the construction of affordable housing projects that meet the increasing demand in rapidly growing areas.
In rapidly growing areas like Bekasi Regency, the demand for affordable housing has increased significantly.
The Meikarta complex is one of many projects that policymakers aim to build dwellings that can last and hold thousands of people. In addition, they also want to help cities grow in a fair way.
The project has a lot of money set aside for it, so it will certainly help Indonesia’s affordable housing industry grow a lot in the next several years. It will do this by giving low-income families more options for housing and boosting local economies by creating jobs.
