JAKARTA, thekabarnews.com—Indonesia recorded Rp 3.923 quadrillion (US$237.8 billion) in realized investment during the first two years of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, according to Investment and Downstream Minister Rosan Roeslani.
Rosan presented the figures to Prabowo during a limited economic meeting at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, Oct. 19. The calculation covers investment reported from the fourth quarter of 2024 through the third quarter of 2026.
“Total investment reached Rp 3,923.2 trillion, while labor absorption stood at 5,485,944 people,” Rosan said after the meeting.
The rupiah-to-dollar conversion uses the Rp 16,500 exchange rate shown in the Investment Ministry’s presentation. Foreign investment is converted into rupiah when BKPM calculates the national total.

Domestic investment (PMDN) accounted for Rp 1.999 quadrillion or 50.9 percent of the cumulative figure. Foreign direct investment (PMA) contributed Rp 1.925 quadrillion, equivalent to 49.1 percent.
The investment figures come from Investment Activity Reports (LKPM) submitted by domestic and foreign investment companies. BKPM’s datasets generally exclude upstream oil and gas operations as well as financial services.
The reported employment figure therefore represents workers absorbed by investment projects rather than Indonesia’s net economy-wide job creation.
More than half of the two-year investment total went to projects outside Java. These regions received Rp 2.031 quadrillion (51.8 percent), while Java attracted Rp 1.892 quadrillion (48.2 percent).
The 51.8 percent figure differs from the 50.6 percent cited in some reports because they refer to separate periods. Outside Java accounted for 50.6 percent of investment during January-September 2026, according to an official presidential statement. The 51.8 percent share covers the full two-year reporting period beginning in October 2024.

From January through September 2026, Indonesia recorded Rp 1.539 quadrillion in investment, or 75.4 percent of that year’s target. Projects reported absorbing approximately 2.19 million workers during the nine-month period.
The regional distribution suggests that investment is expanding beyond Indonesia’s traditional economic center in Java. However, the headline value alone does not show whether projects have entered production or how much lasting income they generate in host communities.
Prabowo instructed his economic team to prioritize investment that produces measurable domestic benefits. The government wants new projects to support processing industries, create employment and bring Indonesian businesses into wider supply chains.
“What we want from incoming investment is for it ultimately to lead to downstream industries and industrialization,” Rosan said.

The government is also integrating business-licensing procedures involving 28 ministries and agencies. Rosan said the reform should reduce uncertainty over permits, processing times and the broader investment climate.
Indonesia needs Rp 13.033 quadrillion in investment between 2025 and 2029 to support the government’s goal of achieving 8 percent economic growth by 2029, according to the President’s Office.
The latest figures show the scale and geographical distribution of reported investment. The longer-term impact will depend on project completion, employment quality and the extent to which investment strengthens domestic industries.
