RIYADH, thekabarnews.com—An attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh killed 12 people and injured 309 others on Saturday, October 10, prompting Saudi authorities to suspend airport operations and divert incoming flights.
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) confirmed the casualty figures early Sunday. Several of those injured remained in critical condition and were receiving treatment at hospitals across the capital.
The fatalities comprised four Saudi citizens and two Bangladeshi nationals. The other victims were citizens of the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.

The strike hit a passenger-terminal complex serving domestic flights, according to international media reports. GACA said emergency teams responded immediately and continued assessing damage to airport facilities.
More than a dozen ambulances rushed toward the airport after the explosion, Reuters reported. A witness inside the domestic terminal described seeing the impact near a boarding gate.
“I saw Gate 401 hit. I saw injured people in front of my eyes,” the witness said.
Saturday’s incident marked the third attack on Riyadh’s main airport within a week. Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement claimed responsibility for earlier strikes, including attacks that killed three Saudi citizens and damaged a Saudia aircraft on Thursday.
The Saudi-led military coalition blamed the Houthis for the latest strike and promised a “firm” response. The group had not immediately issued a separate claim for Saturday’s attack when Saudi authorities announced the casualties.

GACA temporarily halted operations while inspectors examined the terminals and other facilities. Flightradar24 data showed that airlines cancelled or diverted flights bound for Riyadh following the attack.
Kuwait Airways cancelled flights KU775 and KU776 between Kuwait City and Riyadh because of the airport closure and security situation. Air India, flydubai and Lufthansa Group were among the carriers that had already suspended some Riyadh services following earlier attacks. Passengers should verify their flight directly with their airline before travelling to the airport.
Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry has urged Indonesian citizens in Saudi Arabia to remain alert as missile and drone attacks intensify. The Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh also asked citizens to avoid potentially dangerous locations and limit non-essential travel.
“The Indonesian Embassy in Riyadh has issued an advisory urging all Indonesian citizens in Saudi Arabia to remain vigilant, avoid locations that could become security flashpoints, limit non-urgent travel and follow instructions from local authorities,” Citizen Protection Director Heni Hamidah said.

“Indonesian citizens are also advised to continue monitoring official information from the Saudi government and Indonesian missions,” she added.
Before Saturday’s mass casualty attack, the Foreign Ministry said it had received no reports of Indonesians directly affected by the earlier incidents. The ministry, the embassy in Riyadh and the consulate general in Jeddah were continuing to contact Indonesian communities and verify their safety.
The latest attack has sharply increased risks for civilian aviation in Saudi Arabia. Travellers should rely on government and airline announcements, as security conditions and flight schedules may change without notice.
