Thekabarnews.com—In June 2026, artificial intelligence (AI) increasingly influences how internet users search for information, complete tasks and create digital content. As a result, that helped make ChatGPT the fifth-most visited website in the world. It beat out Reddit and Wikipedia.
Google retained a commanding lead with an estimated 98.19 billion visits during the month, according to Semrush Traffic Analytics. YouTube ranked second with 52.22 billion visits, followed by Facebook with 9.10 billion and Instagram with 6.08 billion.
ChatGPT recorded an estimated 5.32 billion visits, narrowly exceeding Reddit’s 5.08 billion. Wikipedia placed seventh with 4.06 billion visits, as reported by Semrush’s June 2026 global website ranking.
Although ChatGPT’s traffic declined 5.53 percent from May, its June traffic was 49.19 percent higher than a year earlier, marking the strongest year-on-year increase among the seven leading websites.
Reddit also registered annual growth of 14.88 percent despite a 6.05 percent monthly decline. YouTube’s traffic increased 4.05 percent year on year, while Instagram posted a modest 0.95 percent gain.
Google remained broadly stable, rising only 0.08 percent from June 2025. Facebook’s estimated visits fell 8.56 percent year on year, while Wikipedia recorded a 15.89 percent decline.

Independent analytics company Similarweb also ranked Google, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and ChatGPT as the world’s five leading websites in June. This confirmed Semrush’s ranking. Although the two companies use different models for estimating, their results were similar.
Mobile devices generated 71.2 percent of Google’s visits and 68.48 percent of YouTube’s traffic, according to Semrush. Wikipedia was even more mobile-oriented, receiving 73.25 percent of its visits from mobile devices.
ChatGPT showed the opposite pattern. Desktop devices accounted for 77.5 percent of its traffic. This suggests that many visitors accessed the AI platform for work, research, study or other tasks that may be easier to complete on larger screens.
ChatGPT’s ranking covers visits to the chatgpt.com domain. It does not necessarily measure all activity through its mobile applications, APIs or integrations with third-party services.
The totals represent estimated sessions, not unique individuals. One person who opens Google multiple times can generate several visits. That explains why the figures greatly exceed the global population.
Semrush says its rankings draw on clickstream information and other proprietary and external datasets. These reflect the activity of more than 200 million anonymized users.
The figures should therefore be treated as market estimates rather than audited first-party traffic records.
Even with that limitation, ChatGPT in fifth place is a major change in global internet behavior.
AI platforms now compete directly for attention with established search engines, social networks and reference websites.
