JAKARTA, thekabarnews.com—Public trust in President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka’s administration reached 64.8 percent in October 2026, but economic dissatisfaction remained high, according to a new Poltracking Indonesia survey.
The figure comprised 54 percent of respondents who said they somewhat trusted the government and 10.8 percent who expressed strong trust. Another 32.1 percent said they lacked trust, while the remainder were undecided or gave no answer.
Poltracking conducted the nationwide survey from Sept. 30 to Oct. 7, involving 1,220 eligible voters across Indonesia. Trained interviewers questioned respondents face-to-face after selecting them through stratified multistage random sampling. The survey carries a margin of error of approximately 2.9 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level.
Public trust rose from 63.2 percent in Poltracking’s August survey. However, the latest figure remained well below the 81.5 percent recorded in October 2025, marking a 16.7-percentage-point decline over the past year. Both earlier surveys used Poltracking’s methodology, although each poll still represents public opinion during a specific fieldwork period.

The survey also distinguished trust from satisfaction. While 64.8 percent trusted the administration, only 55.3 percent said they were satisfied with its performance. Some 40.9 percent expressed dissatisfaction.
“Public confidence in the government remains higher than its assessment of the government’s performance,” Poltracking Executive Director Hanta Yuda Rasyid said.
Education received the highest satisfaction rating among the seven sectors assessed, at 66.3 percent. Defense and security recorded 63.7 percent, matching the rating for social and cultural affairs. Satisfaction with healthcare stood at 62.1 percent.
The economy received the weakest assessment. Only 36.8 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction, while 57.8 percent were dissatisfied. Law enforcement and corruption eradication also recorded a negative balance, with satisfaction at 43.1 percent and dissatisfaction at 47.5 percent.

The detailed findings help explain that gap. Poltracking found that 58.6 percent of respondents considered staple-food prices unaffordable. Some 45.9 percent named high food prices as the country’s most urgent problem. Only 33.3 percent believed the administration had successfully created jobs.
Nevertheless, 61.3 percent believed the government designed its policies to improve the lives of ordinary Indonesians. Another 62.1 percent said the administration was serious about addressing public problems.
Government Communications Agency (Bakom RI) head Syahganda Nainggolan said the findings showed that Prabowo retained meaningful public support.
“There is still public confidence in President Prabowo,” he said in Jakarta on Monday, while acknowledging the different satisfaction figures reported by Poltracking and Parameter Politik Indonesia (PPI).
The survey gives the administration political room to pursue its agenda, but the lower performance rating signals a clear challenge. Converting trust into stronger public satisfaction will depend largely on whether the government can control living costs, expand employment and improve confidence in law enforcement.
