There is no limit to the rewards of fasting; what is that?

Thekabarnews.com—My brothers in the Muslim community, may Allah ﷻ have mercy on you.
A sahih hadith from Abu Hurairah, may Allah ﷻ be pleased with him, says that the Messenger of Allah, ﷺ, said the following:
“Every action of the son of Adam is multiplied: a good deed is rewarded tenfold up to seven hundred times.
Allah, the Exalted, said, “Except for fasting, for it is for Me, and I will reward it. He leaves his wants and meals for me.”
When a person breaks their fast, they feel two joys: one joy when they break it and another joy when they meet their Lord. The smell of a fasting person’s mouth is better to Allah ﷻ than the smell of musk.
Every good deed done by a person will be doubled by ten similar good deeds up to seven hundred times.
Except for fasting, Allah ﷻ stated. Fasting is for me. I will give it a prize myself. He has sacrificed his desires and meals for me.
People who fast have two joys: the joy of breaking their fast and the delight of meeting their Lord.
In fact, Allah ﷻ finds the breath of a fasting individual to be more fragrant than the aroma of musk oil.” (HR. Al-Bukhari no. 1904, 5927, and Muslim no. 1151).
The hadith above shows that
- The reward for every noble deed will be ten to seven hundred times what it would normally be.
- Therefore, Islam does not require this practice of fasting. Fasting does not increase in reward like other good deeds because Allah has already made it a highly valued act and multiplies its reward without limit. Fasting is a discipline that has several benefits. Moreover, Allah will multiply the act of fasting many times, with no limit on how many times it might happen.
- What could be the reason? Al-Imam Ibn Rajab Al-Hanbali, may Allah ﷻ have pity on him, said, “A person who fasts is being patient.”
Allah ﷻ explains the reward or punishment for people who are patient in His words:
إِنَّمَا يُوَفَّى ٱلصَّـٰبِرُونَ أَجْرَهُم بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٍۢ
“Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account [i.e., limit].” (QS. Az-Zumar: 10).
And there are three kinds of patience:
(1) Being patient when following Allah ﷻ
(2) Patience in refraining from sins and prohibited immoral behavior.
(3) Patient when confronted with a terrible fate.
When you fast, you can practice all three forms of patience.
Of course, the practice of fasting involves acts of obedience.
It also covers following the rules, such as not eating or drinking during designated fasting hours.
In the same way, when you fast, you try to be patient with things that hurt or make you feel awful, including hunger, thirst, and weakness.
That is why fasting can bring you endless rewards, just like being patient.
Read the book Latho’iful Ma’arif, pp. 268-290, by Al-Imam Ibnu Rojab Al-Hambali, may Allah have mercy on him.
The reward for fasting during Ramadan and fasting in general is infinite/boundless because it requires practicing all sorts of patience, namely, patience in performing acts of obedience, patience in avoiding sins/misdeeds, and patience in confronting various tribulations (tests).
This debate is now over. I hope it has given you some beneficial suggestions and new information that will help you.
May Allah ﷻ always guide us and help us succeed so that we can always be patient and strong when we follow all of Allah ﷻ’s instructions and stay away from all of His prohibitions.
We pray to Allah ﷻ for victory and strength.
