Thekabarnews.com – May Allah have mercy on Al-Imam Ibn al-Qayyim, who once gave us a very important reminder:
“Every time someone disobeys Allah, it only hurts the person who does it. Wealth that is utilized against Allah leads to destruction. Those who wield power over others will face destruction if they rebel against Allah. And whatever portion of the body—the tongue, the heart, or the limbs—used in disobedience will ultimately lead to the owner’s annihilation, regardless of his awareness.” (Ash-Shawāʿiq al-Mursalah fī ar-Radd ʿalā al-Jahmiyyah wa al-Muʿaṭṭilah, 3/865).
Important thoughts
Every sin and act of disobedience against Allah, big or small, has effects in this life and the next. This does not apply to people who truly repent, for Allah recognizes their repentance and wipes away their misdeeds.
Every sin has consequences. Every act of disobedience has a negative effect on the person, both in this life and the next.
In Al-Jawāb al-Kāfī, Al-Imam Ibn al-Qayyim elaborates on the temporal ramifications of sin, stating that it extinguishes the light of knowledge, hence hindering genuine comprehension of the religion.
- It makes the sinner feel scared, anxious, and uneasy when they are with other individuals. When you sin over and over again, it dulls your conscience and makes doing wrong seem normal, even to the point of doing it in public. Sin brings shame and the loss of respect and honor.
- The sinner loses the beauty of faith, obedience, and worship. One sin always leads to another. Allah lets people who keep sin give in to their cravings and the whispers of Shayṭān. Sin takes away a person’s prayers and the company of angels. It makes the heart spiritually dead.
Sin takes away the beneficial things that usually come with age and experience. Sin darkens both the face and the heart, making it more difficult to obtain what you need; these are just a few of the many negative effects of sin.
May Allah the Most High always guide and strengthen us, keep us on the straight path, and preserve us from sin and disobedience. Aamiin.
