As technology moves forward quickly and the world economy is unpredictable, topics including innovation governance, digital talent preparation, and social and environmental effects have become more important to people around the world.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 will take place in Davos, Switzerland, from January 19 to 23, 2026. It will focus on these issues. Since 1971, the yearly meeting has been bringing together leaders from government, business, academia, and civil society to agree on points of view and predict global trends. Moreover, the talks in Davos are becoming more and more important for countries with fast-growing digital economies, like Indonesia.
A spirit of conversation
The theme for WEF Davos 2026 is “A Spirit of Dialogue,” which shows how important it is for people to work together in a world that is becoming more and more divided.
The forum’s main goals are to improve global cooperation, find new ways to boost the economy, invest in people, use new technologies responsibly, and create long-term wealth.
Participants emphasize that good governance, working together across sectors, and using technology safely and with trust are all important for keeping the global economy robust and growing over the long term.
Digital talent and responsible AI
This year in Davos, some of the most talked-about themes are artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital governance. The main topic of conversation is how to safely scale up innovation without hurting societal trust or economic stability.
This challenge is crucial for Indonesia. The Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) says that 27.34% of Indonesians used AI in 2025.
The Communications and Digital Affairs Ministry (Komdigi) says that the government requires about 600,000 digital experts every year to reach its goal of 9 million digital professionals by 2030.
As Indonesia moves closer to its Digital Vision 2045, making sure that technology development is safe, inclusive, and focused on people has become a national priority.
Sustainability and going green have become national priorities
Sustainability is another important part of WEF Davos 2026. The main topic of conversation is how to create wealth within the limits of the earth. The forum supports economic models that are both regenerative and inclusive and that protect the environment while allowing for growth.
People’s behaviors support this change. According to data from the OECD, 65% of people around the world are willing to adjust their lives to help the environment.
A collaboration analysis from AC Ventures-BCG says that Indonesia could see green growth of up to $400 billion, especially in cutting emissions, offsetting carbon, and professional services.
Indonesia at Davos
We predict about 3,000 attendees from about 130 countries at the 56th WEF Davos meeting. DANA, one of Indonesia’s top digital wallet providers, is attending the forum for the third time.
DANA claims that being a part of this event shows its long-term commitment to building a digital banking ecosystem in Indonesia that is open to everyone, trustworthy, and long-lasting.
“WEF Davos is a critical venue to comprehend global changes and how Indonesia can play a more active role,” Vince Iswara, CEO and co-founder of DANA Indonesia, said.
