Thekabarnews.com—A US military refueling plane crashed in Iraq on March 12. The incident led to a rescue operation that is still going on. Different stories are also circulating about what caused the crash.
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) says that the plane in question was a Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker. This plane is essential for refueling military planes during missions.
CENTCOM said that the plane was part of operations related to the ongoing conflict with Iran. However, they also said that enemy fire did not cause the crash.
The Associated Press reported on Friday, March 13, that the military said in a statement that the KC-135 aircraft, a type of military aerial refueling tanker, was part of operations against Iran. But the incident was not the result of hostile fire or friendly fire.
The US military also said that rescue and recovery efforts are going on right now. However, officials have not yet released any detailed information about the crew or the exact location of the crash.
At the same time, Al Jazeera reported that CENTCOM admitted to losing the refueling plane in allied airspace during the war. Authorities are still looking for survivors as part of the rescue effort.
But officials in Iran have told a very different story about what happened.
A spokesperson for the Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters said that Iran’s air defense systems were able to hit the plane in western Iraq.
“An air defense system hit one of the US refueling planes in western Iraq, and it crashed,” the spokesperson said, as quoted in Tasnim News Agency.
The spokesperson also said that everyone on the plane died. This account is different from what the US military said before. The US had said that enemy fire was not to blame for the crash.
The event took place at a time when tensions between Washington and Tehran were high. This was because there had just been a war in the area.
Mojtaba Khamenei praised groups that are part of the “Resistance Front” and support Iran. These groups have fighters from Yemen, Hezbollah, and Iraq.
In the statement, Khamenei thanked allied groups for continuing to support Iran and oppose Israel and Western military involvement in the area.
Things are still changing because both sides are telling different stories about what is happening in the war zone. Such reports can cause confusion and give people wrong information. This can make things worse and lead to more fighting.
Each story affects how people view the conflict, potentially raising tensions and making peace efforts more difficult.
