Thekabarnews.com – Julaibib was born without knowing his parents or where they came from, which was quite shameful in his time. His looks also made him stand out. Many people stayed away from him, and society often saw him as an outsider. But he had enormous faith. He gave his life to Allah ﷻ and became one of the warriors who fought with Prophet Muhammad ﷺ to protect the Muslim community.
Even though other people did not want to be around him, Julaibib found respect and acceptance in the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. One day, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked him whether he wished to marry. Julaibib responded humbly, questioning who would ever agree to marry their daughter to a man with no family ties and an unpleasant appearance. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ then took his hand and went to the home of a well-known Ansar leader. This leader had a beautiful daughter.
The father was thrilled when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said he wanted to set up a marriage. He thought the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would marry his daughter. However, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ stressed that the offer was for Julaibib. The parents were shocked and did not know what to say regarding Julaibib’s condition and looks. At first, they said no.
Their daughter came forward after hearing the talk. People knew her as a devout person who understood faith. She inquired about the validity of the Prophet Muhammad’s proposal and advised her parents to accept it upon confirmation.
She read a verse from the Qur’an that told people not to hesitate when Allah ﷻ and His ﷻ Messenger make a decision. Her bravery changed her parents’ minds. Therefore, the wedding happened.
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ soon called the Muslims to fight. Julaibib took part in the war. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ saw that someone was missing after the fighting stopped. He kept asking if anyone had fallen. Lastly, he claimed that he thought Julaibib was one of the martyrs.
The companions found Julaibib lying among seven adversaries he had killed before he died. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ stepped over him and stated, “He killed seven people before they killed him. Three times he said, He is from me, and I am from him.”
Julaibib died for his beliefs. His story shows that Islam’s honor is based on faith, obedience, and bravery. It is not based on looks or status. Julaibib went from being a man that no one cared about to being known for his commitment, sacrifice, and love for the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
