Pontianak, Thekabarnews.com – The Pontianak mayor, Edi Rusdi Kamtono, has told all heads of Regional Organization Formation (OPD) in the Pontianak Government to start working on the 2026 budget right away. Evaluations revealed several program delays in 2025, prompting this move.
Edi Kamtono gave the order after giving the 2026 Budget Implementation Documents (DPA) to the city hall in Pontianak on Friday, January 2, 2026.
“I want every head of OPD that gets the DPA to read it thoroughly and do what it says right away. If anything is unclear, please get in touch immediately,” he said.
Edi Kamtono stressed that the Regional Revenues and Expenditures Budget (APBD) is an important investment for the city’s growth. He said that all government spending should help cities grow and improve the lives of the people who live there. The Pontianak mayor emphasized the urgency to speed up the realization of the 2026 budget, particularly following last year’s delays.
The Pontianak mayor said that the beginning of the year should give people the drive to improve the quality of public services and work discipline. He remarked, “This new year must spark a new desire to work better, more efficiently, and more professionally.”
He told all civil servants (ASN) in the Pontianak Government to do their jobs honestly, responsibly, and in line with the standards for excellent public service.
Warning about legal risks
The mayor also warned OPDs to be careful with public money so they do not run into any legal problems. “I do not want any legal complications to come out because of carelessness or mistakes made by the government,” the mayor said.
The Pontianak Government has reallocated its 2026 budget per the central government’s orders to improve efficiency. Edi Kamtono said that services that directly touch inhabitants must remain the top priority. Even with budgetary limits, they should maintain focus.
He told OPDs to keep coming up with new ideas so that strategic programs can keep going even when finances are tight. “We need creativity and innovation to ensure the smooth operation of public services.”
The BPK audit is coming up
Edi Kamtono also stressed how important it is to be accountable for the 2025 budget, saying that the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK) will shortly look at every spending. In preparation, the Pontianak mayor highlighted the necessity of expediting the 2026 budget realization after previous delays.
The Pontianak mayor told OPDs to clean up their administrative records. They must make sure that all buying activities and building projects obey the rules.
“When buying things, make sure they are real and work well. They must be finished for projects,” the mayor said.
Focusing on disaster risks
The Pontianak mayor highlighted several pressing issues that require immediate attention in 2026, alongside the implementation of the budget, emphasizing the need to speed up the 2026 budget realization to address these concerns. One of these is the risk of tidal flooding, known as “rob.” According to estimates, the water level could rise to two meters in January 2026. This elevation is greater than the 1.8 meters measured in December 2025.
“We think the water level will rise to two meters this month. I hope it does not happen at the same time as severe rain and strong winds,” the mayor stated.
The Pontianak mayor also talked about how many house fires there were in 2025. There have been 87 house fires, and about 80% of them caused major damage or total loss. Furthermore, traffic deaths caused by carelessness are still a big problem. Edi Kamtono says that these problems need quick answers, effective communication across organizations, and steps to lower risks in the future.
