Thekabarnews.com—Iran has turned down a proposal from the United States to end the ongoing conflict. They say that any solution must strictly follow the rules set by Tehran.
Press TV reported on Thursday, March 26, that a high-ranking Iranian political and security official said that Iran will not let Donald Trump or Washington decide when the war will end or how it will end.
The official, who requested anonymity, stated that Iran will conclude the war according to its terms and at its own pace. Additionally, they emphasized that Iranian troops will continue to defend themselves and strike enemies with what they termed “heavy blows.” This will continue until they fulfill Tehran’s demands.
The official said that the US has tried to talk to Iran through several diplomatic channels. These include indirect mediation through Pakistan. Tehran thinks the proposal is unrealistic and unrelated to US losses on the battlefield.
They also discussed past rounds of negotiations that took place in the spring and winter of 2025, which he said were dishonest. This suggests that the lack of sincerity in those discussions contributed to the current tensions between the US and Iran.
The official said that Washington did not really want to talk. Instead of talking, they used military action to follow up on negotiations. As a result, the situation has led to a breakdown in trust and further escalated tensions between the two sides.
Because of this, Iran has rejected the most recent proposal as a way to make things worse instead of better. They believe that it does not address their demands for a complete stop to aggression, guarantees against future military attacks, and clearly defined war reparations.
There are five main things that Tehran says must happen for the war to end. These include a complete stop to what it calls aggression, guarantees to stop future military attacks, and clearly defined war reparations.
Iran also wants an end to all fighting involving allied resistance groups. In addition, it wants the world to recognize its control over the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
The official stated that these conditions exceed the requests made in previous negotiations in Geneva. The US and Israel jointly attacked Iranian targets on February 28, just before those talks.
Iran has told the mediators that there can be no ceasefire unless these terms are agreed to. “There will be no talks before that,” the official said, repeating Tehran’s position.
Iran’s position shows that the diplomatic deadlock will last for a long time. Both sides seem far from finding a solution that works for either of them.
The hardline stances could make it even harder to stabilize the area. Especially since there is still military activity and geopolitical competition going on, which may lead to increased tensions and potential conflicts among neighboring countries.
