Kuburaya, Thekabarnews.com—The Pasar Sungai Kakap Road in the Sungai Kakap District, Kubu Raya Regency, is now officially finished. This is a big step forward for the local administration in its efforts to improve the long-standing traditional market area.
Kubu Raya regent Sujiwo said that building the road is just the first step in a bigger plan to upgrade and rearrange the Sungai Kakap Market.
“Alhamdulillah, the roadwork is done. After this, we will move forward with installing proper kiosks,” Sujiwo remarked while looking over the market site, Thursday, February 12.
Parts of the market have looked crowded and messy for years, with unapproved buildings and temporary stalls making things worse. The regent emphasized that the local authority will demolish non-compliant structures and erect standard kiosks for free use by traders.
“We will get rid of the dilapidated areas and the illicit stalls. We will create useful kiosks and give them to traders for free. Sungai Kakap Market, which has looked the same since the 1980s, will soon have a completely new face,” Sujiwo said.
Through this remodeling, the regent aims to make the market cleaner, more organized, and more appealing while also boosting the area’s economy. Sujiwo requested assistance and oversight from district and village leaders to ensure a smooth and equitable transition.
He also told the Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Office to speed up the building of kiosks so that street sellers can move into better places as soon as feasible. The move should help ease traffic and raise the overall level of safety and cleanliness in the market.
Sujiwo was hopeful about the market’s bigger potential, in addition to the upgrades to its infrastructure. Sungai Kakap Market is strategically located near the sea and a temple foundation complex, making it an important business center and a possible tourist destination.
“The value here is high. There is a temple base and the ocean close by. I think this location will become more appealing, bringing in people from beyond the district,” Sujiwo said in conclusion.
Sungai Kakap Market is about to enter a new chapter. Officials have now completed the road access, and they are reorganizing the market. It will go from being a packed traditional place to a more structured and promising regional destination.
