South Korea, thekabarnews.com – South Korea has a new way to fight crime at night by sending out life-sized 3D holographic cops. People in the area joke that these looking-like ghosts are only there to scare people, especially at night.
Every night from 7 to 10 p.m., a huge “cop” 170 centimeters tall comes to Judong No. 3 Park. This person is wearing a uniform. They tell tourists about the neighborhood’s security cameras and how quickly real police will show up.
The funny thing is that this “cop” isn’t really there. It is a 3D hologram that is part of a test to keep people from doing badly.
“What the hell, there is a police ghost cruising around here. What the hell are people thinking?” One person said.
The 3D hologram went up in October, and since then, officials have noticed a big drop in crime in the area around it. Reports say that crime has gone down by 22%.
South Korea has used experimental technology in public places for a long time. This includes facial recognition in schools and virtual assistants in train stations. This fits perfectly. It is a mix of warning, presence, and optics.
The police say that the virtual officer can’t stop or arrest anyone. However, the fact that someone is wearing a uniform often makes people think twice and act carefully.
