Singkawang, Thekabarnews.com—The Singkawang Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud) head has officially denied the rumors on social media that he used money from the Regional Revenues and Expenditures Budget (APBD) to go to Turkey. The people in charge say that the claims made online are false.
The Singkawang Disdikbud head, Asmadi, said he had never been to Turkey for work and completely denied the claim. He says that the trip he and his family took abroad recently was only for religious reasons—specifically to do Umrah. Furthermore, the APBD didn’t pay for it.
“The APBD didn’t pay for the trip to Turkey. The Home Affairs Minister and the Foreign Affairs Minister had made strict rules. All officials who go abroad must follow these rules,” Asmadi said, Monday, February 16.
He said that there are levels of rules, formal approvals, and clear ways to tell regional officials about all trips abroad. Also, the main point he was trying to make was that these rules stop people from traveling abroad with public money without permission or on their own.
Asmadi also emphasized the importance of obtaining public confirmation before disseminating unverified information. He said that making claims without proof can make people question things and lose faith in the government.
People should check the source before sharing or believing anything they see on social media. He said that people can easily get things wrong when they have wrong information.
The Singkawang Disdikbud tries hard to be honest and open. Asmadi says that the school is always pleased to answer questions from the public. In addition, it is open to anyone who wants to learn more about a new issue.
“You are welcome to visit our office at any time if you have any questions. We are open to suggestions and constructive criticism, especially when it comes to public services. We aim to alleviate people’s concerns and illustrate the importance of responsible information sharing in the digital era,” he stated.
