Rocky Gerung: Why does the Polri run MBG? Has the crime already been solved?

Thekabarnews.com—President Prabowo Subianto opened 1,072 nutrition fulfillment service units (SPPG) and 18 food security warehouses. The president also broke ground for 107 more SPPG units that the Indonesian National Police (Polri) would be in charge of. The next step in the growth of the free meals program (MBG) is this.

The ceremony took place on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the Polri SPPG plant in Palmerah, Jakarta. People from different parts of the country, members of the Red and White Cabinet, and important police officers were all there. Some of them were there because they were in a mixed relationship.

National Police Chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that Polri’s involvement is more than just a show of support. He said it was a big step toward making sure that everyone in the country can get nutrition programs that are safe, fair, and long-lasting.

“We are committed to delivering exceptional nutrition services and ensuring adequate food for all,” he stated.

President Prabowo praised the work of Polri and said that making sure young people eat healthier is a national goal. The president said that there was a clear connection between food security and national security.

“Polri and other important groups are getting involved in things that are not their main job but are crucial for the country’s progress,” Prabowo said.

The Polri runs 1,179 SPPG units that will help improve nutrition services all over the country.

There has been a lot of talk about the proposal, but the administration is hopeful. Rocky Gerung, an expert on politics, said that the police should instead focus on crime. 

“Have police already solved crime and online gambling? Why do cops run the MBG?” He made these comments during a discussion that is currently circulating.

The criticism has started a bigger talk about what the right limits are for people who work in institutions. People who agree with this think that people from different fields need to work together to speed up social projects, especially in places that are challenging to get to. On the other hand, some people say that mission drift could happen.

The government asserts that Polri’s actions do not interfere with its primary role of maintaining peace. Officials say that the initiative is part of a long-term plan for human development that coincides with Indonesia’s Golden Vision 2045.

As MBG gets bigger, it will have to deal with issues relating to public accountability, national security, and social policy. This illustrates how big its aims are and how challenging it will be to attain them.
