Pontianak, Thekabarnews.com—West Kalimantan Governor Ria Norsan has reiterated that the provincial administration aims to develop the Siluk fish, also known as the Arowana, as a major export commodity. Additionally, the administration wants it to be a big element of the region’s creative economy.
On Tuesday, March 31, Governor Ria Norsan met with members of West Kalimantan’s Arowana Breeders and Traders Association (APPS Kalbar) at the governor’s office.
Norsan made it apparent throughout the lecture that Arowana is not simply a hobby but also a valuable investment area. As a result, it can create jobs and make the province more famous around the world.
“Our Arowana is the best in the world. The government must ensure that breeders do not face overly stringent restrictions,” Norsan said. He also added that it was very necessary to make the regulations work better.
One of the most important things that came out of the discussion was that firms have had problems obtaining certification and receiving the necessary permits to move goods for a long time. Consequently, they need to make these steps simpler.
Norsan said he will work with the right people to make it easy for commodities to exit the nation. Furthermore, he plans to speed up the job of the government.
The provincial government intends to amend the laws and do more to promote the province throughout the world by going to trade events and cultural festivals. In addition, they plan to focus on growing the market in East Asia and Europe.
Officials think that these kinds of things will make people all around the world demand West Kalimantan’s high-quality Arowana even more.
Norsan also discussed how vital research and development are for protecting the genetic purity of native Arowana species. This is important so they can stay ahead of the competition in international markets.
“We will support research efforts to protect quality and keep Kalbar’s Arowana as a favorite around the world,” Norsan remarked.
APPS Kalbar head Erik Hikmatul Baser also remarked that the government’s intervention made a tremendous impact for local breeders and traders.
Erik stated that many people in the business had worked hard in the past to compete with companies in other countries.
“We hope that this industry of ornamental fish that people own will grow and become more competitive with the governor’s direct backing,” Erik remarked.
APPS Kalbar also claimed they would organize the APPS Arowana Contest 2026, which will have the Grand Champion Trophy given out by the governor.
Arowana will be considerably more important in West Kalimantan. After all, people from all over the world will undoubtedly attend to the event.
The Arowana sector in West Kalimantan could help the area’s economy flourish. This would be exactly like the parts of Indonesia that export goods.
West Kalimantan is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. These are vital to the local culture and have the potential to succeed in the global market.
