Jakarta, Thekabarnews.com – The Global Flourishing Study named Indonesia the happiest nation, which affected President Prabowo Subianto. Harvard, Baylor, and Gallup collaborated on the poll.
In Indonesia, the world’s top nation, people are joyful. Prabowo said, “This is touching for me,” during a speech at the 2025 National Christmas Celebration at the Senayan Indoor Tennis Court in Central Jakarta on Monday (January 5, 2026).
Prabowo said he felt this way because many Indonesians live in poverty. Most people were pleased, though.
I realize most of our people live extremely simply. He claimed they still say they are pleased when asked.
According to the president, this mentality puzzles other nations that assess happiness based on material factors. However, the findings inspired him to work harder with the Red and White Cabinet ministers and deputy ministers to enhance public welfare.
“That is why my assistants and I work hard,” added Prabowo.
The Global Flourishing Study evaluates human well-being beyond economic measures. Flourishing includes enjoyment, life satisfaction, mental and physical health, meaning and purpose, character and morality, and social relationships.
Over 200,000 people from 23 nations and regions participated in this survey. Indonesia placed first globally with an average score of 8.47 out of 10. Indonesia scored higher than Mexico and the Philippines, while Japan scored 5.93.
Prabowo says the findings remind him that national progress should raise economic figures but also retain Indonesian values like togetherness, optimism, and quality of life.
