Jakarta, Thekabarnews.com—During his remarks at the Indonesia Economic Outlook 2026 meeting in Jakarta, President Prabowo Subianto once again talked about how well the free meals program (MBG) has done.
President Prabowo said in his speech that the program has given out almost 4.5 billion meal pieces to people all over the country. Authorities counted 28,000 health-related events out of that total. That is around 0.0006 percent of all distributions. The government says that the program has a 99.9994 percent success rate based on those numbers.
President Prabowo said that the conclusion was a big logistical success, given that MBG provides meals to millions of people every day in different parts of Indonesia. The initiative works on a huge scale. It has complicated supply chains. Moreover, it requires monitoring of food safety and coordinated distribution systems all over the country.
“This is a big job in terms of managing logistics. We are still looking at the system and making changes to get rid of all errors,” the president said.
Despite the high success rate, President Prabowo reiterated the government’s commitment to thorough monitoring and ongoing examination. Authorities want to improve quality control systems to stop more problems from happening. At the same time, they want to make sure that food safety standards stay the same in all areas.
The MBG program helps the local economy as well as its goal of improving people’s lives. The program has set up thousands of working kitchens. This creates jobs and increases demand for agricultural and livestock products from local farmers and producers.
Officials say that the MBG not only helps kids eat better and improves public health, but it also makes the economies of villages stronger. By getting its ingredients from farms in the US, MBG connects rural supply chains to a national distribution network.
President Prabowo said again that the government will stay open and accountable while working to make things better. As Indonesia moves forward with its broader development goals, MBG serves as both a social safety net and a way to boost the economy in the short term. It also helps promote long-term growth.
