Pontianak, Thekabarnews.com—The Pontianak City Administration is working hard to make economic centers stronger and reorganize important parts of the city. This is part of the 2027 regional development planning forums (Musrenbang RKPD) for Pontianak City.
Pontianak mayor, Edi Rusdi Kamtono, said that Pontianak is crucial to the city’s economy. The city needs to plan ahead and work together to stay strong. It also needs to grow as a center for trade, services, and education.
“Important trading areas and a waterfront zone in Pontianak require immediate attention. Pasar Tengah, the waterfront area, and Pasar Sudirman are still the heart of the local economy,” Edi Kamtono said as he opened the forum at the Pontianak District Office, Wednesday, February 4.
The mayor talked about a problem that happens a lot in cities: water pooling and flooding. Edi Kamtono also said that the economy could get better. He instructed the appropriate officials to enhance the drainage system. The issue is especially important in areas that get a lot of rain and tidal river surges.
“Pontianak is still likely to flood. We need to fix the drainage channels so they work better,” Edi Kamtono said.
A lack of land in cities also became a big problem. There have been talks about how to plan for land use in the future because burial grounds in places like Sungai Bangkong and Danau Sentarum Street are almost full. The development agenda also included improving public facilities and managing transportation. Moreover, it covered buying land for sub-district offices.
Edi Kamtono said that the city will give priority to proposals that fit with its medium-term development roadmap when it comes to making the budget work. The city is discussing major projects, including building a regional museum and widening strategic roads. Finishing the parallel road access in Sungai Jawi and Ampera is also included.
“We will plan everything based on what is most important to the city to make sure that development really helps the people of Pontianak,” he ended by saying.
The Musrenbang forum plays a crucial role in aligning community ideas with city policy. This guarantees that growth in the future will be beneficial for both the economy and the environment.
