Pontianak police crack down on loud exhausts during Kapuas Safety Operation 2026

Pontianak, Thekabarnews.com—The Pontianak City Police (Polresta) said that they would keep enforcing traffic laws during Kapuas Safety Operation 2026. This is particularly true for motorbikes with non-standard exhaust systems.

Pontianak City Police chief Kombes Pol Endang Tri Purwanto said that they want to make loud and modified exhausts illegal as one of their main priorities.

Officials think that these changes make people feel less safe. Additionally, many residents in the area are dissatisfied with these changes. 

“We have done things to stop such incidents from happening. For example, we have gone to businesses that sell exhaust systems and told them not to sell equipment that does not meet technical standards,” Endang said, Tuesday, February 10.

Police will give riders tickets if they see them with exhaust systems that don’t meet national standards. The police will abide by traffic regulations to ensure equitable treatment and adherence to the rules.
