Pontianak, Thekabarnews.com—The case of the alleged fake motor oil distribution in West Kalimantan has moved to the next legal stage. Prosecutors said the investigation file was complete, which means it has reached P21 status.
The Legal Information Section Head at the West Kalimantan High Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Kalbar), I Wayan Gedin Arianta, said that prosecutors had looked over the case file for suspect EC. They found that it met all legal requirements.
Arianta said in a statement on Friday, February 27, that the reviewing prosecutors have stated the file has been complete since February 23, 2026. Therefore, this means the case has met both formal and material requirements.
Now that the file is complete, the next step is for investigators to give the suspect and physical evidence to the prosecutors. The Pontianak Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari Pontianak) will handle the Stage II submission. Indonesian law refers to this process as such.
However, Arianta said that authorities have not yet set the date for the transfer. Prosecutors are currently waiting for investigators to finish getting ready to turn over the suspect and the evidence.
“We have not set a date yet because we are still waiting for the investigators to say they are ready. They have to finish getting the evidence ready first,” he said.
Once we officially turn over the suspect and evidence, the Pontianak District Prosecutor’s Office will take over the case. After that, the case will move on to the next legal step before going to court.
“After the handover, Kejari Pontianak will take over the case and prepare it for trial,” Arianta said.
The investigation itself started earlier. This happened when the West Kalimantan Regional Police’s Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus Polda Kalbar) named AM, also known as EC, as a suspect in the alleged distribution of fake motor oil.
On September 30, 2025, investigators sent the first case file to the West Kalimantan High Prosecutor’s Office. This office formally charged the suspect for the first time.
Senior Commissioner Burhanuddin, in charge of the Special Criminal Investigation at Polda Kalbar, previously stated that the police would take the case very seriously. This is due to its potential impact on consumers and the car market.
“We are taking the case of fake oil distribution very seriously because it hurts the public in terms of both product quality and vehicle safety. Submitting the case file is part of our promise to see the legal process through to the end, even if it goes to court,” Burhanuddin said.
As part of the investigation into the suspected breaking of Indonesia’s consumer protection laws, police have gathered evidence and talked to several witnesses.
The government is trying to stop fake car parts from entering the market because they could hurt consumers and fair competition.
