Landak, West Kalimantan, Thekabarnews.com—Landak Regent Karolin Margret Natasa said that her government is taking part in discussions about a National Strategic Project (PSN) in Mempawah Regency. This project includes PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (PT Antam).
Karolin wanted to know why the Landak Regency Administration got an official invitation when some important people from the area did not. Moreover, she said that lacking strategic local institutions and representatives could hinder collaboration and public participation.
“I want to ask about the invitation we received, as it did not include all the details. The invitation did not extend to Bappeda and the economic division. Organizers invited representatives from all levels of Mempawah Regency. This team includes neighborhood heads, village heads, and sub-district heads,” Karolin said.
Regent Karolin said that the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda), the economic affairs division, sub-district heads (camat), village heads, and traditional leaders from Landak are instrumental in determining local policies. Furthermore, she stated that excluding them could hinder discussions about plans. These plans could significantly influence neighboring communities.
The PSN agenda is vital to Mempawah residents because it is enormous and could impact the economy. The project’s implementation could potentially impact Landak, located near the project area.
Karolin said she hoped that in the future, everyone would work together in a way that was more open and inclusive. She advocated for everyone’s participation in decision-making. This is particularly important for projects that the government considers national priorities.
People who watch say that areas still need to work together to finish big projects like mining and building roads. For this reason, local governments are calling for broader participation in the PSN discussions. This will help protect their communities’ interests and ensure balanced regional growth.
