Kuburaya, Thekabarnews.com – At the end of 2025, the Kubu Raya Regency Government opened two new urban landmarks. On Wednesday night, December 31, 2025, the Kubu Raya Regency Government formally named the Mangrove Fortress Monument and Gaforaya Roundabout the region’s newest landmarks. Kubu Raya Regent Sujiwo was responsible for the ceremony.
People were interested in the infrastructure projects because they were finished without spending the Regional Revenues and Expenditures Budget (APBD). Local officials reported that businesses completely paid for the projects, which cost about Rp4.8 billion.
Sujiwo noted that the two landmarks show how private businesses are helping the region grow. He said that the local government mostly worked as a middleman, linking public demands with private sector involvement.
Businesspeople’s kindness and dedication enabled the construction of the Gaforaya Roundabout and the Mangrove Fortress Monument. Sujiwo said in his speech, “On behalf of the Kubu Raya government and community, we thank you very much.”
Backed by Big and Small Businesses
Sujiwo said that the name Gaforaya is an acronym made up of the first letters of the names of GAIA, Four Points Hotel, Astra, and Yamaha, four corporations that were the biggest donors to the major projects along Supadio Road in the Sungai Raya District. At least 11 plantation enterprises and a few other businesses along the Supadio corridor also participated in the project.
Sujiwo says that the agreement shows that successful partnerships between the government and the private sector may lead to the development of public infrastructure without putting a strain on local government budgets.
He remarked, “Development continues, the community benefits directly, and the regional budget stays the same.”
A promise of long-term investment
The Kubu Raya Regency Government reiterated its commitment to expanding investment opportunities in the future. Sujiwo, on the other hand, highlighted that all investments must follow the law and have beneficial effects on the environment, society, and the country’s interests.
“We want people to invest, but it has to help the community in a real way and protect the environment,” he said.
The local government wants Kubu Raya’s urban landscape to become more organized and unique with the inclusion of the two new landmarks. They also want to strengthen the region’s reputation as a growing center for economic activity and investment in West Kalimantan.
