Pontianak, Thekabarnews.com—On February 18, the West Kalimantan Prosecutor’s Office (Kejati Kalbar) searched a house on Pak Benceng Street in Pontianak, at Komplek Kurnia 1A No. 5B. This was part of an ongoing investigation. Authorities are probing claims of corruption in the management of bauxite exports from West Kalimantan.
Prosecutors currently link the homeowner to a corruption case, according to officials. The case involves the management of bauxite exports from 2017 to 2023.
The head of public information at Kejati Kalbar, I Wayan Gedin Arianta, said that the search started at 10:00 a.m. It ended at 12:00 p.m. In addition, investigators took many papers and tech tools that they think are important to the case.
“The investigators took the papers and electronic evidence right away to the Kejati Kalbar office to look at them more closely and maybe take them,” Wayan said.
Wayan stated that the search was not just about following the rules. It was also part of a planned way to make the case stronger. Moreover, investigators are seeking to locate and secure evidence related to licensing processes. They are also looking into management practices and potential irregularities in bauxite mining governance.
The operation received approval from the West Kalimantan Prosecutor’s Office head and adhered to all criminal procedure rules. The main things the investigators were looking for were legal papers, computer files, and other possible evidence.
Wayan said that the stolen things are important for figuring out who did it. They are also important for seeing patterns in behavior and figuring out how much money the state lost.
The growing body of evidence could clarify allegations of mismanagement in the mining sector. Prosecutors are examining more than just procedural aspects of the case. They are investigating authority structures, decision-making processes, and any potential unlawful schemes.
The case has attracted significant public attention. Meanwhile, authorities intensify efforts to uncover the full scope of the alleged bauxite export corruption scheme in West Kalimantan.
