Thekabarnews.com—A former vice president of Indonesia, Muhammad Jusuf Kalla (JK), and other high-ranking officials say that President Prabowo Subianto has tried to help ease tensions between the US, Israel, and Iran. JK said he liked the plan. However, he also stressed that the world is still very complicated and challenging to fix.
Jusuf Kalla spoke to the press at his home in South Jakarta on Sunday, March 1. He said it was a good thing that the president wanted to stop the war. He also said that the war’s size and the uneven distribution of power worldwide could hinder Indonesia’s influence on the outcome.
JK said that it has been hard to stop wars in the Middle East that have been going on for a long time. Moreover, he says that big countries often have a lot to say in international relations. This influence makes it harder for smaller countries to act as mediators.
He also said that it is even harder to mediate when the people involved have different amounts of political and military power. In such situations, he emphasized the importance of fact-based and well-thought-out diplomacy.
He also told the leaders that Indonesia should keep working on social justice and stability at home. At the same time, they should talk to other countries about things that matter to them. He said that if they can’t handle global uncertainty, things could worsen in his country.
On Feb 28, 2026, reports that Iran and the US were going to attack each other made the Middle East a lot more tense. The government-run news in Iran said that the attacks killed the supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. News agencies from all over the world also reported this claim. Iranian officials have since said they will do something about the attacks.
People around the world worry that Iran, the United States, Israel, and their allies could start a wider regional war. Security experts say that if things keep getting worse in the Middle East, it could become unstable. As a result, there could be an effect on politics and the economy around the world.
Many people have discussed Indonesia’s proposed diplomatic role since then. People who watch Indonesia say that the current crisis makes diplomacy much harder. This is true even though the country has a long history of peaceful diplomacy.
Many experts think that Indonesia’s move could help start a conversation. Even so, the way to lasting peace is still not clear.
