Jakarta, Thekabarnews.com—Statistics Indonesia (BPS) of DKI Jakarta says that the open unemployment rate (TPT) in Jakarta was 6.31 percent in November 2025. This indicates that the job market continues to exhibit inconsistent signals. The number has gone up by 0.26 percentage points since August 2025.
About 349,000 of the 5.53 million people are still looking for work. The data shows that Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, still has problems with its infrastructure. This statistic is true even though the economy is growing and jobs are being created.
Many men in Jakarta are still out of work. The unemployment rate for men was 6.90 percent, which is a lot higher than the 5.43 percent rate for women. The unemployment rate went up overall. However, it was mostly because more men were out of work, even though fewer women were.
The fact that males and females are getting jobs at different rates shows that the job market is getting better for some groups of people faster than others. This is especially true since some industries are changing how they hire people.
Another big factor in how likely someone is to lose their job is how much school they have. People who graduated from general high school (SMA) had the highest unemployment rate (8.14 percent). Next were people who graduated from vocational school (SMK) (7.84 percent). At the same time, the unemployment rate for people with diplomas was the lowest, at 3.44 percent.
These numbers suggest that people in Jakarta’s competitive job market may be able to keep their jobs if they have more specialized and technical skills.
The number of people working rose to 5.18 million, even though unemployment rose. The hospitality and tourism industries are still struggling to recover. The evidence is clear from the fact that the accommodation and food service sector hired the most people.
But now there is something else to worry about: not having enough work. An additional 110,000 individuals were either part-time workers or not fully employed. This means that many people are working, but they don’t have full-time or steady jobs.
The most recent BPS data says that the job market in Jakarta will be very hard to figure out in 2025. The job market is still strong, and more and more people are finding work. But the fact that some groups are seeing more unemployment and underemployment shows that the economy’s gains haven’t fully led to stable job security.
Governments need to do more than just create jobs; they also need to make sure they are good and last a long time.
